ParticipantI almost ran over Dickie’s tin can of a bike with my steel tank. Apparently Dickie feels he has the right to the entire opposing lane on the Fairfax Connector.
P.S. I also passed by KarenB on the WOD yesterday afternoon.

Thank god for your squealing brakes and erratic maneuvers or else I might not have spotted you in my lane. On a good note, you did wake me up.

It was great running into KayakCyndi and doing a Hains Point lap with her this evening… the company and weather were so pleasant that I enjoyed the somewhat… mechanical musical accompaniment provided courtesy of her bottom bracket! :p
Shockingly, this morning I took some q-tips to the BB seals to get some of the junk out and then squirted on some tri-flow. All was nice and quiet after that. We’ll see for how long though. Still may be time for a thorough BB clean-out post monster cross!

Hmmm, triflow sounds like it will be short-lived. What type of bottom bracket? I’ve had rather little luck cleaning bottom brackets that weren’t designed as serviceable. (Cleaning them out isn’t the hard part; it’s repacking the bearings with grease. So they always end up clicking again after a few rides.)
I do have the Enduro bearing press and am happy to lend it to anyone that wants to press new bearings into their external BB cups. This is more straightforward on Shimano external cups. And they don’t last forever either — but I think they get creaky before they get clicky (is that any better, though?). My Enduro bearings are creaking quite a bit now on the commuter — at less than 4k miles.

ParticipantHad the pleasure of riding 3-4 miles with dcv on last night’s home commute. He made me sweat more than I wanted in my street clothes. Helps keep my local cleaner in biz.

It is the BB on my Viaje which is BB30. Only thing about the bike that I don’t love! That said, Jan has cleaning and repacking it down to a science and can do it in minutes. I had already planned on taking it to Bikenetic tonight. The tri-flow just kept me from losing my mind this morning!

Ah, very good. Good luck! (It sounds like with Jan/Bikenetic you won’t need any [luck].)

ParticipantRockford and I waved at GB as he was hot-dogging it down the W&OD no-hands style. @GB: I know your mother! Do you want me to tell her how you’ve been riding without holding onto the bars?? Well, do you??

ParticipantGreenbelt and Subby a couple blocks from each other on the 15th Street cycle track. Sorry to leave you hanging Jeff. I was holding my right hand glove between my left hand and the handlebar grip and it would have fallen if I took my left hand off the bars to give you five. :p

ParticipantWhen my bottom bracket creaks, I drip some oil on the BB and BB shell interface and the noise goes away.

ParticipantDid I pass DKel in the dark rainy fog tonight just before 10pm by the Poplar Heights tennis courts on the WOD. And does he ride with a blue tail light???

I wonder if that would work for my left hip.

That means that there is a third Rule 9, late night, rider out there in our hood. Oh my.

True story: @GB, I just spoke to your mother about your reckless behavior. Her response, “what am I going to do, stop his pocket money?” So, I guess you’re off the hook.
