Was that Dread that I exchanged light coverings with on the W&OD? I thought I heard “hey TwoWheels” as we passed, but I wasn’t sure, since I was focused on keeping my light covered….the way my light is positioned, it’s really hard to cover and requires taking my left hand off the bars, so I couldn’t cover it and wave at the same time.
Light covering could have happened, but I never gave a shoutout tonight.

Flyby says we passed on Van Buren, which is not where the light covering occurred…too early in the winter for me to be having cold delusions….

ParticipantEncountered wheels&wings on the inbound Custis near the Bridge to Nowhere. Shared a pleasant chat for a mile before we went our separate ways.

You know, on the way out, one of the other parents said to me, “You didn’t bike here, did you?”. It would have been about 10 miles each way in the rain. So I considered it.

I got a “nice bike” from a friendly cyclist, who then added “it’s like a four-wheel-drive Suburban”. I love this. The elBoda is our Surburban and the bakfiets is our minivan.
Oh, cool. According to flyby I was passed by ebubar, who may have been the “Suburban” comment guy.

ParticipantDue to a series of unfortunate events, my heavier, 3-speed bike I usually take in the snow is unavailable. So I had to venture out on my road bike.
Then, amazingly, another road bike entered the trail at the Quincy on-ramp just ahead of me. As I came up behind I said, “You must be crazy–riding your road bike on this.” He responded, “Freezing Saddles.” Turns out it was Powerful Pete. So we slid in together to Rosslyn where I cut off to my building while he was venturing on into DC. Hope he made it.

ParticipantSaid hi to Bilsko on the MVT just south of the bridges as I was heading towards the airport. He was on of the few cyclists I saw out this afternoon.

Participant@ Steve O, thanks for sharing the ride and your snow riding wisdom with a newb.
Made it in to work a bit delayed but just fine. The roughest bit turned out to be Key Bridge – lots of ruts and they had yet to clear it.
The evening ride, as you suggested – up Wilson – was great.
😎

ParticipantSpotted NickBull stopped at Lyon Village shopping center. He had a maintenance problem that needed a part, and I was unable to help. Felt bad abandoning him, but he did appear to be warmly enough dressed for the cold.

ParticipantRode home with Tim Kelley and Erin last night, which completely made my night! Thanks, guys.
Pleasantly surprised with the number of cyclists I’ve seen out last night and this morning. Between that and the snow clearing, what a difference a year (and a little advocacy) makes!

Oh, hi. I was focused on figuring out which blocks of the cycletrack were ice-free on my way to the DC BAC…
