We really need forum handle, Twitter handle (if applicable), and real name. They can be so hard to keep straight.
We could just tattoo everyone’s WABA membership number on their forehead

ParticipantI’ve had enough concussive head injuries that no number of nametags will help. I just happily meet people for the first time again and again.

That would certainly make it easier to get the WABA discount at my LBS! The risk of having the tattoo removed would likely drive renewals through the roof as well. Under President Blacknell’s leadership, renewal rates hit 100%

ParticipantWhat we really need is coded flags, like they have for shipping. Then you could identify each rider from a distance AND we can pretend we’re all pirates. Some people might want to shorten their handles though.

And some people’s handles might get misinterpreted as a message: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Code_of_Signals#Examples

probably was me, i blew the light at N fort myer – didn’t i? i usually don’t but there were no cars, still felt guilty after. sorry i didnt notice who was behind me, what were you riding?
Yep, I think so. I was behind you from up around N Scott St somewhere, and I usually won’t overtake anyone on that stretch of the Custis (even to say hi) unless they’re going slow. I actually couldn’t even remember what your handle was here, but I had a strong suspicion that I remembered a Cinelli track bike rider from the forums! Some Google-fu led me back to the thread with your bike’s picture. I was just on my usual road bike, with a backpack.

Those are a hoot!
Over half of them are directly applicable to what we all have seen on the trails (think cycling and read B, D, E, F, G, I, K, M, T, U, V, X AND Y). J is kind of up in the air.

J is my FAVORITE.
“I am on fire and have dangerous cargo on board: keep well clear of me.”, or “I am leaking dangerous cargo.”
Also, I now plan to loudly announce the following when entering all bars or coffee shops:
“My vessel is ‘healthy’ and I request free pratique.”

What about flags for numbers, NATO or ICS? I’d say NATO, since they’re square and would line up horizontally better. (Luckily my forum handle, Twitter, and Gmail are all the same.)

ParticipantSaw the one and only Fraction Man rolling down 15th. I got stuck behind an 18 wheeler and didn’t catch up. My guess is that he turned off to do a few laps at HP before riding home. I guessed wrong.

He was on his Steamroller (fixie) at about 1630 heading toward Jefferson Memorial.
