ParticipantSaw Tim Kelley at N. Lynn & Lee this morning. Sorry Tim, was too focused on being a PAL crossing N. Lynn and didn’t see you until the last minute when you called out.

I was right behind you, then. Saw Tim at the Monolith.

ParticipantGB and I exchanged pleasantries westbound on the Custis for 1-2 miles Monday eve. Told me he recently moved out towards Reston. I told him we should have moved him by bike convoy. Maybe next time.

ParticipantSaw most of my forum favorites at the Kidical Mass Arlington/Alexandria ride on Sunday (thanks for coming out!). I even got to ride next to some of their offspring at the front (and gently encourage said off-spring to stay with the pack and not ride too far off road/up ahead).
Had part of my ride home brightened by ArlingtonRider last night. Twice in two days! I win!

ParticipantSaw a Langster in my office bike rack this morning, set up properly as a fixed gear, and thought “too bad One-Eighth isn’t here…”
Then I saw that the Langster had riser bars and mismatched wheels, with some weirdo semi-knobby touring tire in the front, and thought “it’s a good thing One-Eighth isn’t here…”

And I saw him this morning as I was coming around Gravely Point. I’m pretty sure he must have been taking an extended route to work too.

ParticipantSaw Mr. Kelly himself riding the Bullitt yesterday evening. He was nice enough to let me clear the intersection before he made his turn.

Extended, and with plane-watching. That never gets old, even if they were taking off the wrong way today.

Everything is relative – right now, I’d be thrilled to be able to ride even that poor, abused, and disrespected Langster.

? Are you injured?

ParticipantShattered calcaneus. Currently held together with a plate and screws. Non weight-bearing until maybe late August.
Oddly enough, this was bike-related. I was doing a bit of mini-Parkour with the kid on Father’s Day. You know those bike racks made of steel tubes bent into upside-down U’s? We were stepping from the top of one U to the next…until I slipped and decided it was better to take my chances straight-legging the landing rather than taking a hit straight up the middle.
Turns out those racing wheelchairs are really wickedly expensive, btw, so no joy there.
So, ride a little for me, too, please.July 23, 2014 at 6:55 pm #1006512ShawnoftheDread
ParticipantCome on now, you don’t use your heel to ride.

Sure, just let me know when to come pick up your bike.
Heal quickly!
