ParticipantMy first-ever Dirt sighting last night on Custis: (at least, I think that was him; I tried to smile and then realized I was wearing a balaclava so it wasn’t very effective)

Hahaha…. Awesome. Nice to see you. I had a feeling that this might show up here when I saw the camera out. Did I get my light covered quickly enough? It was a fun ride home.
JRenaut has a first Dirt siting this week too. The “I have never seen Dirt without a bicycle” look on his face was charming.

I honestly didn’t recognize you until I was most of the way through the intersection. I was also thinking, “If those pedestrians start jaywalking just because all the cars are clear, I’m going to run into them on purpose”. Then you said hi (and didn’t walk out in front of me).

Even before you covered up, your light wasn’t especially bright…as long as it’s not bright, flashing, and pointed directly at my face, lights on trails don’t really bother me (but after reading the extensive arguments on this thread I made sure my own light is angled down pretty sharply and I never turn it up to full brightness).
And yes, having a helmet camera is fun for times like that

My WABA tattoo itches if I jaywalk.
The look on your face definitely said that you had no clue who was saying “hi” to you.
I figured you’d figure it out pretty quickly.

ParticipantPretty sure I saw dismalscientist/Mark patiently waiting for the light at S. Shirlington and Four Mile Run this morning as I was going full-on law breaking dbag, easing in to the cross walk before jetting off through the reddening yellow light.
Good to see you.

ParticipantActually, I bagged it and crossed using one half of the crosswalk and went down the sidewalk. Otherwise, I would like have gotten stuck by opposing traffic trying to turn left into the gas station/4MRT.:p

ParticipantSaw Dirt this morning on Park St in Vienna. Was getting out of my car and yelled his name. “Dirt!” My wife wondered who he was, “famous bike guy”, I replied.
