Fast Friendly Guy

I saw consularrider and fast friendly guy on the WOD yesterday. My wife asked if Dave always rode with a Santa hat – that would be so cool if you did all year round, that would be your signature piece…
To tell you the truth, I’ve been a little worried about this. First of all, that white pompom likes to whip around and hit me in the face, so I figured that if I made the Festive 500, I would lose the hat immediately…. Problem is other riders are saying it’s the only way they recognize me on the trail (it’s not easy being nondescript). Still, it would be too weird to wear that thing after New Year’s. I gotta figure out another MO.

ParticipantGot to ride with culimerc from Vienna to Reston this morning. The new WTF is sweet and stealthy.

ParticipantSaw this thread’s namesake heading south along 15th Street towards the Tidal Basin. Tried to close with him but the traffic lights favored him and he was moving smartly, possibly at mach 0.125.
Strangely, he was wearing red rather than black.

Allow me to be the first to register a groan.January 3, 2014 at 6:47 pm #989944TwoWheelsDC
ParticipantRod Smith on Penn, turning south on 3rd NW about 1250? I was on the CaBi. I looked right at you, but it didn’t register that it was probably you until you turned.

ParticipantHad my daily morning sighting of FastFriendlyGuy followed almost immediately by the OneEighthster himself coming off the Humpback bridge.

Some of the bridges are being demolished, if memory serves me correctly. That’s why they constructed the weird switchback bypass halfway through the series of bridges.

I saw those yesterday. Even though signs have been posted for weeks, and I’ve seen the gates, do I still have permission to accidentally run into them some dark morning, start cursing and write a rant about not being fully informed that the county was doing this?

ParticipantCheck it out…they actually put barbed wire (but only on one side–go figure) I guess to keep anyone from climbing over. Which side would you pick to climb (barbed wire or no barbed wire)?
Answer: climb the 4′ railing and walk around the fence (aren’t the fishermen always on that side?)January 7, 2014 at 10:49 pm #990455dasgeh
ParticipantI saw the awesome Mr. Rod Smith as I was walking to lunch, after dropping my CaBi off one station too early (brain-freeze, literally). I think I confused him by being a pedestrian, saying “Hi, Rod”, then introducing myself as “Gillian”, since he probably thinks of me as “dasgeh”… But hi again. Good on you for being out in this!

Oh I know your name. You didn’t even have to add “I’m not on a bike” for me to figure out who you were. In fact I had already astutely noted that fact. :p Besides you’re the only Gillian I know. Nice to see you!
