ParticipantIt was nice of FractionMan to do a ride by of HDCC this morning. Too bad he couldn’t stay for coffee.

ParticipantIt’s often hard enough for me to recognize riders who I’ve met before, but today I saw a guy and I thought to myself “maybe that’s Renaut…” Tonight when I saw the TV news report about the zebras on Penn Ave. my suspicion was confirmed. I’m not sure why I thought that was him. I may have seen a picture of John before, I remembered he rides a steel Bianchi, I think I saw a glimmer of recognition on his face when he saw me. Not quite sure how I almost recognized him, but I did.
Oddly, I haven’t ridden Penn Ave since the zebras were installed so I’ve yet to sight them. Look more like armadillos to me but I understand they are bigger than they look in the photos. As a rider who has smashed headfirst into flexi-bollards on more than one occasion, I’m worried about accidentally hitting a zebra.

ParticipantMy sister-in-law saw Renaut on the news and thought he was me. (We all look alike).

ParticipantThat was you up by Treasury, right? I was pretty sure, but didn’t want to look like a clown if I was wrong. That was just after I gave that tv interview.
I think we were at some event at the same time, but it was probably a while ago, and I don’t think I actually spoke to you, so it’s understandable if you didn’t quite recognize me. I’ll stop and say hi next time.

ParticipantYes, we passed at the bollards. I was concentrating on not hitting them. You certainly looked familiar.

ParticipantThe pink moustache on the front of my bike is easy to recognize (Thanks, Dickie!).

ParticipantCulimerc and I were both late after voting, net result is we crossed paths in usual area. Gave Dickie the Vulcan greeting in my lobster gloves, saw Nate getting on the Custis.

ParticipantPretty sure AmericanCyclo yelled “Dickie” as we crossed paths, although he was wearing what appeared to be a Michelin Man costume so it might not have been him. Then I played Chicken with a dear that jumped onto the WOD alongside HWY 66…. the poor thing freaked and ran straight at me… I held my breath and my line until she jumped back into the bushes…. not the welcome back I expected after a week at the beach! Glad to see DCV a few minutes later… he re-centered my morning and everything felt normal again…. except for his Spock hands.

New screen name: “Plays Chicken with Deer” or, possibly, “Deer Spook”.

I gritted my teeth, said “you wanna dance!? then let’s dance!”, and cranked up the power to 400 watts
This is how I would’ve written it, but that’s just me…

ParticipantHa, I’m new to this forum, saw this thread yesterday for the first time, and the very next morning (today) see a very familiar-looking mustache on my commute:
Is that who I think it is?

That was me in a monkey suit with the BA scarf. Seems like I always see you when I’m focused on not hitting joggers.

only 400 huh? :p
I also thought I saw Hans yesterday on the way home, but he had a trailer instead of a wee-hoo so I dunno if it was really him.
