Peter, does Quintana know you’re wearing his jersey? Haha, looks good on you, BikeArlington’s grimpeur!
Polka-dot jersey, black shorts, and a cycling cap. Peter D is very pro.

I’ve worn a cycling cap since I lost my Rx sunglasses in December. The snap-on helmet visors don’t provide enough shade or wind/rain protection as a cap.

ParticipantSpotted RandoGuy’s gleaming fenders on the MVT this morning just before/after the boundary channel bridge and then Bilsko (i think) on the Key Bridge.

ParticipantHad a sighting of a prestigious Bike Arlington vest wearing rider – I think might be Steve? – we rode across the Douglass bridge to the Firth Sterling (aka Navy) gate entrance of Joint Base Anacostia Bolling at the same time this morning. We exchanged a few appreciative words about the gift of this morning’s weather before heading off to our respective buildings on the Base. Meant to give props for the BA vest, but I got caught up in the putting away of the ID – next time.

Nice to meet you! When you slowed down after the turn, I thought maybe that was just your building or I would have waited to chat. I just bought a Disc Trucker as well, so I was eager to discuss. I’m sure I’ll see around base.

No, my building is in the middle of the base, so to speak. I saw where you stopped – I’m just a ways further south. The Disc Trucker is great – my second commute with it this morning – I’m just easing back into commuting after an enforced hiatus. You’ll love it. The steel frame and long wheelbase is great – I commuted on a Cannondale for a couple of years, and it’s a great bike, but the Surly is awesome. Hope to see you around soon.

ParticipantNice to see Hozn on the beginning on my commute. Also was spotted by Dickie and the missus (I’m assuming on your way to Best Buns again?) while I was trying to keep pace with a recklessly fast trio.

ParticipantOn the tail end of my 84 mile commute home I spotted ShawnoftheDead with a new wheel on his backpack, Dickie, with blood all over him (don’t worry, I stopped) and Tim who was on his way to steal one of my KOMs. I should go the REAL long way more often!

I hit the pavement pretty hard right after the castle hill on the W&OD. I tried my best to dress my wounds as cyclist after cyclist passed me by without any attempt to see if I was OK. Only 1 out of more than 30 riders asked if I needed help while I sat there bleeding on the side of the road. Americancyclo was awesome… he spotted me and stopped to see if I was OK, which now knowing he was on the tail end of a century is even more respectful! He accompanied me for a few miles before I headed on my way to meet my wife at Liberty tavern. I feel stupid and sore….but no broken bones or bicycle parts….. the beers at the tavern helped, and then Baiskeli stopped in and had a beer with us as well…. so not a bad way to end a crap day.

Ouch! Wish I had been on the trail today to help out. Hope you mend up quickly!
