ParticipantStopped at FCC for a few minutes and then made it in to my parking garage seconds before a downpour started. And I had such a tailwind at the early part of my commute that at one point I was going downhill at full speed and didn’t feel any breeze on my face. A nice morning overall.

ParticipantI wasn’t quite so lucky. I was watching the ominous line of clouds coming in from the west as I pedaled north from Alexandria. By the time I came had turned onto 14th St Bridge the National Cathedral went from visible to almost completely obscured by rain in a matter of seconds. I turned on the afterburners and probably had my fastest ever northbound crossing of the bridge, aided by the generous tailwind. As I came around the Tidal Basin and climbed 15th St by the BEP, the wind grew colder and changed direction. I clung to hope that I might still make it for a few more seconds. Then I felt my first raindrop. In the time it took to go from Independence to just north of the Mall on 17th St I managed to get just as wet as if it had been raining the entire 7.5 miles of my commute.
Still a nice ride all in all. Between the tailwind generally and my mad dash across the 14th St Bridge, I may have managed to beat a few PRs on Strava. Don’t worry if you’re a KOM, though; my PRs probably put me in the third quartile of riders at best.

Participantdasgeh and I made the mistake of mentioning how the weather really was quite nice. So then we got dumped on.

Yeah, but how often is it 70 degrees at 6am in November?
I did manage to get to work right before the sky opened up. I’m hoping I get another gap to shoot home in.
Chance of precip this afternoon is 14%. We should be OK.

ParticipantGood to be not only back out on the bike but on the new (to me) Major Jake. Temperature was perfect and the rain MADE ME KNOW IT WAS REAL.
Here is a terrible pic of my bike as I was pulling it to the freight elevator. That’s how much I love this bike. I WILL POST TERRIBLE PHOTOS OF IT.
Yes, I am elated to be back out.

Biked by the remains of this. GW was a fiasco (MVT was perfectly clear).

I’m glad the guy who can’t drive hit a truck instead of a person.

It’s the other way around – the truck backed over the car. Trucks are kinda scary.

Well, I’m glad the guy who can’t drive backed over a ferrari instead of a person. (Had it been a person, much less a cyclist, “I didn’t see nothing” would be a reasonable defense–as it is, there will be an actual penalty attached!)

ParticipantAnybody else’s circadian rhythm off. I was like a vampire on this morning’s ride. I was racing to beat the sunrise, all the time not realizing i was 10 minutes earlier than Friday. This sucks, because now that it is light out, i have to wake up early to do my hair and put on my make-up now that people can actually see me.

My rhythm was fine…my dog, however, normally wakes up right around 730 every morning (which is fine, because I’m usually up around 7), but this morning he woke me up at what is now 630. I hope he adjusts quickly…

ParticipantMy kids magically adjusted, and now when they get up at 6, it feels (to me) like 7! It’s awesome. I expect that to last about 30 more minutes…

I’m just envisioning the nice dark rides home as we get the earliest sunset times of the year this week I think. Bah. 5:05pm tonight. My 5:40ish departure will be nice and dark.
