When I came through around 0600 the west side of the intersection was covered in dirt/gravel. Luckily I was travelling rather slow since the light was red.
Lots of mushy warm asphalt that stuck to my tires. Plenty of people had already rolled through before me too.

Samey here. I came through westbound about 5:45pm. It was really more like gooey sand than asphalt.

Probably will join you, Chris. Been avoiding the 4MRT recently bc of the possibility of debris due sticks and leaves.

If you did, so did everyone else and their dog!
Barring official dog run events, I don’t think I’ve ever shared and MUP with so many pups! Saw my usual Bobs and Fidos on the 4MRT this morning too.

ParticipantMy morning commute reminded me of how I love fall and how we, the bike commuting ELITE, are among the fortunate few who actually look forward to our daily commutes!

I think some of the best fall color I’ve seen so far has been on Columbia Island along the MVT! So fortunate to have this as my twice daily route!
Thanks for the photos!

ParticipantI usually look forward to my bike commute. I was looking forward to this morning – one of the last days of our CSA pickup, so I have a good excuse to get a few extra miles in, plus I wanted to check out the newly repaved bike lanes on I SW. Then at the last minute I had to take the kids to school, which made me late. Then I got stuck in construction traffic, which made me later. Then I got a flat tire on 14th St NW because the entire stretch from U to R is in a condition that could charitably be described as *&^^&%^&$(* **&%^$^%&*$ (*^@!*&($*@.
Luckily I was only 2 blocks from The Bike Rack, and once again thankful they open at 8 so I could borrow their floor pump. Then I yelled at a cabbie for driving in my lane in Thomas Circle.
Still, good commute.

no way, i’m getting maximum mileage on the costume – diamond derby, halloween party, vienna halloween parade and it isn’t even halloween yet.
i’m jealous of my son’s costume – steve was by far the most popular at the parade. Not so good peripheral vision though.

ParticipantReasons why my commute should have sucked:
1) Rain
2) Cold
3) Jaywalkers who didn’t even look for traffic
4) Rain
5) Cold
6) 14th St closed around G
7) U-turns on PA Ave (one right in front of a cop, who ignored it)
Rain
9) People in front of me without fendersReasons why my commute didn’t sucks:
1) I was riding my bikeOctober 30, 2013 at 3:11 pm #984736vvill
ParticipantHad a quick sighting/chat with Cyndi this AM on the Custis hill down into Rosslyn – she was on on her sensible wet weather bike (Ogre?). I was being lazy/stubborn and took my road bike and had no rain gear – already had it ready to go and was kitted up based on yesterday’s forecast of no rain. It was just a little reminder of why I own a bike with disc brakes, and why I should ride it when appropriate.

ParticipantThere was rain? Nice morning Best Buns warm bacon cheddar scone at HDCC in Shirlington always brings a smile to my face.

ParticipantI walked out the door and yelled at no one in particular “Whaddya mean, RAIN!?” took the fendered bike the long way in and verified that it does indeed take me 10 minutes longer on that bike, long way or short way. Also realized that I have little self control when a bright light is behind me. I do my best to drop them, even if I tell myself, “This is going to be an easy, leisurely commute today!”
