Some tourists were having fun taking photos with the shutdown signs at the Lincoln, so I figured I would too….
It’s hard to tell from that picture; is Lincoln staring across at Capitol Hill looking something like this?

ParticipantNot sure if the government workers are using the time to get fit, or people are gearing up for the marine corp marathon, but the MVT was packed with runners. All were polite, just packed.

I had the same thought this morning – seemed like a normal number or cyclists too, but then when I crossed the bridge it was empty. I figured people woke up and went for a ride even if they weren’t going to work.

ParticipantToday’s slice of humble pie brought to me by the guy on a tiny, folding Dahon bike who flew right past me as I climbed the hills of Military Road.
I assume he must have been a really advanced android bike rider that has escaped from a government research facility as a result of lack of security from the government shutdown.October 2, 2013 at 2:28 pm #982676NicDiesel

You sound like the dude I passed on the MVT airport hill last night. Dude caught up with me at Crystal City and refused to believe he got passed by a dude over 350+lbs. Tri-studz be warned, I’m back to dropping a pound a week – Imma come for your plastic bikes and KOMs in 2014!

Normal number of cyclists, a lot fewer panniers and backpacks.

You wouldn’t be the guy in a blue jersey that blast past me at 19+ mph at gravely point only to then soft-pedal at 15mph past the airport? I hope not because this guy was making inappropriate passes and not even calling them.
I always wonder why guys will ride above threshold to catch and pass another cyclist, then can’t sustain the effort 30 seconds after they pass.

ParticipantTons of cyclists on the Custis today, but mostly well behaved.
Cyclists coming down Capitol Hill full speed to the only little place you can get by the barrier WHILE I WAS CROSSING, not so well behaved.
But most importantly: I MADE THE LIGHT AT 4TH (on Jefferson).

If it was yesterday I was in work clothes (dress shirt, sharkskin pants) so that wasn’t me. Besides, I’m usually the guy that vocally calls out the ELITE needledicks that don’t call their passes and do dumb sheeit like passing up the middle. I also look not too dissimilar from this so I’m pretty easy to identify:

Actually since there are no tourist around in a long time, Lincoln is off to the side having a cigarette and passing gas. Let’s face it, he deserves a little”Me Time”, being so proper for all these years.

You carry a bottle of Lipton Iced Tea instead of a water bottle?

That’s not me, that’s Bo Snyder, another larger rider that’s kicking ass and taking names. For some reason my Italian Tuxedo® shot from Hains Point isn’t in my Dropbox so that’s the closest pic I could find of someone my size.

It definitely was not you. I was fairly certain it wasn’t, anyone who is on this forum knows better than to pass up the middle around 2 joggers running side by side on the right, and a solo jogger in the oncoming lane.
I also pulled a ‘dickie’ yesterday. Some jackhole kept passing walkers without calling, so instead of passing I rode his wheel and yelled out every pass we made at the top of my lungs.
