Or perhaps with some fava beans and a nice chianti?

Naw, when stewed they get too soft and kind of explode in your mouth like an overripe grape. We found that texture was really important for cicada-munching enjoyment. Thus broiled won out of 10 recipes and the best wine match was actually a decent Port. I’m thinking that this year’s approach will be broiled on top of grilled asparagus with olive oil and garlic with some crostini to the side. Plating & presentation will be key- the choice is whether to have them hide between the asparagus or surf the crostini on a little wave of artichoke dip…

Getting back to the topic of this thread, this morning’s peaceful ride erased the bitterness of attending last night’s Caps game.

You’re a sick man Kevin, I also think you just described how to make Vegemite.

Have you tried tacos, ala Centro?

My morning commute involved two different cycling shoes. At the same time.

I didn’t realize it until I got to work. Good thing I liked my Specialized Road shoes enough to buy the same model (4 years after buying the first pair)

Stopped by the Crystal City farmers market tonight. Small but a good selection of stuff; I highly recommend. I didn’t need any salad fixings so I went for the “bad for you” stuff instead.

Coconut pound cake (yum!) and dill & chive jack cheese (Made by mennonites I think). I wasn’t prepared for food shopping but everything arrived in in tact if not a little squished.

Got to the Lincoln this morning to find access blocked due to more Captain America filming (I assume). No movie star sightings though…

What camera or setting do you use to get the old time snapshot look?

    First-world problems!

I have SpecialED MTB shoes that I still wear that are the first pair of clipless shoes I bought. They’re probably around 12 years old.

I also bought the same basic model of Shimano MTB shoes last year because I liked the first pair so much.

Instagram for Android. I started using it after the ‘sync with strava ride’ feature. Sometimes I like the images they make, sometimes it makes me sick.

If you click on the Strava Activity http://app.strava.com/activities/54329417 you’ll see the instagram photo posted below the elevation data.

On another note, does this mean that I am now the official Arbiter of ELITE?

Had my fastest commute ever this morning on my way to the Freshbikes BTWD station. Note that this is after I bumped the tires up to 37mm and dropped the pressure to 60psi–proving the truism, “it’s not the bike, it’s not the engine, it’s the swag”. And what wonderful goodies they did have: waterbottles, reflective tags, t-shirts, bananas, I even scored one of those sweet Bike Arlington jerseys. Two thumbs up, great event. Glad I was finally in town for BTWD.

Didn’t chicken out. Didn’t die.* Got free water bottles. Found a new hill-nemesis. That was unexpected; there are a couple uphills on the way home that I thought were going to be the challenging ones, and they were fine yesterday. Was not expecting this one to be the worst of the lot.

Legs are tired now. :) (Also, I could use a nap.)

*(did take a wrong turn, accidentally giving myself an extra mile and a half on a road I was trying to avoid as much as possible. //newbie mistake//)
