Now you’ve got me wondering about doing it on a CaBi…

I’ve made it up that hill ONCE in my life, and I swear I had to pick my heart up off the ground when I got to the top! I now tend to walk it up, but even then I get winded!

ParticipantI’ve only ridden up the hill twice. Both times I chickened out at the s-curve. It really wasn’t the steepness. It was just the narrowness and the guardrails. I’ve fallen over at slow speed before and lived. But never into a metal guard rail. I’ll save that experiment for another day.

ParticipantI think the first time I rode all the way up there (on my hybrid) it was my third attempt. I haven’t walked it since but I do usually make sure I pace myself so I can get through the top part with the guardrails with some energy leftover. It would be nice if they re-paved that but having a real paved connection to the CCT would be even nicer.

I don’t think it’s as bad as 29%. I don’t think it’s really that bad at all anymore… honestly it’s kinda fun.
Hi Dirt?

ParticipantMy morning commute was on two different bicycles. Home to bus stop then Pentagon to Farragut Square on my Commuter, then Farragut to WNY on the Pedicab. If you’re out at the game today, look for me. I’ll be working before and after the game.

ParticipantMy favorite 41st st attempt was after doing a long ride on the fixie in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene in 2011. There were two trees down, one near the bottom, and the second about 3/4 of the way up. I managed to hop the first one, almost made the second one but got hung up. :p
It would have made an awesome story had I made it. Not only on the fixie, but going over two trees on the way up.

ParticipantThis morning’s commute was over before it started. I was switching the bike I was going to ride and coming down a step, I caught my foot and twisted my ankle. At the ER thry told me the x-ray shows an avulsion fracture, and that I’ll be off the bike for six to eight weeks.

Wowsie. You ride, like, 100 miles a day and get taken out by a stair at home. Ouch. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope they put you in a comfy air cast.
