Ha, touche. I briefly thought it was a rotor. Though that looks like an 11-28? “CX gearing” the roadies would say!
Honestly, tight clusters are over-rated. I like @dkel’s comment that you can deal with gaps “with patience or enthusiasm” (paraphrasing).

ParticipantI think I had a 12-30 on the final iteration of my road bike, even with a 6700 Ultegra RD and compact double. (It’s since been switched to a fixed gear, and I just use my gravel bike for all non-MTB rides that need gears.)

Actually, the hot shizz is to run 52-36 and 11-23. Too bad SRAM doesn’t do an 11-23 Powerdome – I’d be all over it…
I believe all the Spec. MY17 road bikes with the new Praxis cranks are 52-36.

ParticipantMy morning commute on this beautiful prematurely spring-like morning was great until I got to the parking garage and had absolutely no trouble finding rack space for my bike. Where was everybody? How could they pass up an opportunity like this? So disappointing.

Were they at work or playing hooky?

ParticipantMy morning commute was a little more challenging than usual! CCT, just south of Fletcher’s Lock.

ParticipantYep, that’s where the person who’d been surreptitiously drafting me ignored my hand signal to slow down, went around me to the head of the line of people climbing over, blocked someone who had been waiting patiently to cross in the opposite direction and then, likely out of guilt, offered me unnecessary assistance on the other side.

Let me guess: SUV with War of 1812 plates?

Well, I can guarantee it wasn’t me. The speed I go, I’ve never in my life managed to draft anyone. LOL

ParticipantMy commute this morning seemed inordinately chilly because even though I’d read the forecast and dressed accordingly, my subconscious had already convinced me that spring has arrived.

ParticipantHad training out in Reston this morning, so I had a long ride west. Was nice and warmed up when I hit Vienna, but cooled down at the light at 123 and then suddenly there was at least a 10 degree temperature drop riding down into Difficult Run and got **really** cold until I climbed out.

Yeah, I dress for that specific section of my commute. Garmin said 31° riding through there — so prob about 35° which was indeed 10° colder than Arlington.

If there is no wind then it is always colder there. Nice dip in the land that lets the cold air pool.

This happened to me once (other than the spring-like part) and it turned out we were closed because of snow. I went and got coffee to get smarter and rode home. We no longer get snow days, so that mistake will never happen again, but I’m assuming I’m capable of riding in on Presidents’ Day or similar.
Today’s felt like riding through mud, but Strava and my bike computer tell me I was wrong.
