You’re missing out. All the cool kids have their coffee at a coffee club. See you at Best Buns tomorrow unless you want to be a square.

Wanted to be a cool kid but by the time I gave up looking for the balaclava you cool kids would been long gone: 8:20 AM.

I arrive at work before 7 (then walk down to Chinatown Coffee, Compass, or La Colombe), so isn’t really an option. I’m eyeing up the Java Shack on the day after T-giving though since I’m off that day–just depends on me getting up on a day off.
I thought I remembered there was one at A Baked Joint I could get to, but I don’t see it on the calendar.

Work at 7. Yuck. I actually moved my work start time back to 9 so I could coffee.
There is a coffee club at A Baked Joint on Fridays. Early crowd is usually starting a bit after 7 and then a rolling wave of people. If you come out to A Baked Joint on Friday between 7 and 8 and identify yourself, I’ll buy your coffee.

No need to buy, but I’ll plan to be there December 2nd. I’ve been wanting to give that place a try.

Yay! “Coffee” is a verb now. Somebody add it to the forum dictionary.
Coffee: v. to meet up with other cyclists at a prearranged location to consume beverages brewed from the roasted seeds of plants of the genus coffea and/or other (usually) hot beverages and/or snack foods.November 22, 2016 at 9:34 pm #1060736streetsmarts

On another note, I’m wimpy (rule 5 is not kicking in yet) – and have been afraid to ride in these freezing temps. I’m planning on riding tomorrow – so I can *coffee* with my buddies. Pray for a warmer morning.

You’ll have to tell us how it went. It was 26 degrees when I left at 6 a.m., which is the coldest of the season so far, so you picked a good one.

Streetsmarts biked to HDCC this morning, so by Rule 9, she is officially a badass!

As if there was any question! Way to go Streetsmarts! Now she has to sign up for Freezing Saddles. It was lovely out. My toes got a bit tingly and I got some ice chips in my water bottle by the time I got to the end of my ride. It was peaceful though.

ParticipantI love days when the kids have school but no one goes to work. It’s much more pleasant when there aren’t that many cars on the road.

ParticipantToday was very nice. Not even close to a Rule 9 day.

ParticipantToday was one of those mornings where lying in bed, I checked my phone to see the weather forecast, planned to get up soon, then felt a weight on me as my cat jumped onto the bed and decided to sleep on top of me. 20 minutes later, I won the battle against laziness (I took today off from work) and got ready for HDCC.
At HDCC, I ordered a hot chocolate (coffee = great smell + horrible taste), but they were out of the milk chocolate syrup, so they asked if I would have it with their white chocolate syrup instead. I was curious, so I accepted the offer, and after having it, let me tell you, it was delicious!
Moral of this story: it helps to have a destination you WANT to get to when trying to fight the comfortable warmness of one’s bed (and cat) early in the morning

Dude just dissed coffee. I’m walking over to Compass right now for an espresso to protest! :p

Now that I’m actually commuting to downtown DC, I’ve got to try out A Baked Joint sometime soon. But the prospect of getting up and getting out of the house by 5:30 (particularly when I often work until 10 at night) is still daunting.
