Nope. It’s another member of the Cabal.

    That’s because you’re a third wheel. ;)

    Groan…….you are evil!!!!!!!!

Actually, to be technically correct, I am sometimes a two wheeler (though not intentionally). Gotta watch those curves.

Anyone ever lose a tail light? Got to my work rack to find mine had fallen off. Retracted my route only to find it crushed :(

Last time I did laundry I came back to find a red blinking light whirring around in the washer machine. My light had been sitting on the bed when I pulled the sheets off and Ended up in the wash. Amazingly it made it through a full cycle and still works.

Rockford dropped hers once and I rode out and found it in the grass. I was surprised.

ALL THE FREAKING TIME. I go through 2-3 a year it seems. I never find them once they’re gone.

I found upgrading to more expensive versions (e.g $20 ones vs the $5 ones), and then verifying every few weeks it’s still screwed on or otherwise attached helps keep them with me longer. Some of the cheaper ones can’t handle too many bumps or jostles before coming loose on my bike, or otherwise breaking in some other obnoxious way. I also have one that uses an elastic band vs a clamp, which is actually holding up better than anything else I’ve used so far.

Stock up on cheap ones during bike to work week and when Arlington/Crystal City give them away around Daylight Savings times. I always keep a spare with me for when mine inevitable falls off or breaks. Worst case those small blinky lights they give away also do well in a pinch.

This is one of the things I like about the “moguls” on the Custis. I’m always finding stuff there.

To the gentleman who was kind enough to tow me from Vienna to Arlington this morning at a very brisk pace. Thank you!

I like your riding style; nonetheless your high steady cadence pace. I will keep an eye on your classy Spectrum bike next time I see you.

    Salute!

Did my good deed of the day and stopped and helped a woman who had a flat. 2 of her coworkers then stopped (seriously, the CRS has an awesome presence on the MVT!), but out of the 4 of us, I was the only one who had all the tools to fix a flat (spare tube, patch kit, tire levers and and C02 cartridge). Kinda shocked me how many people don’t carry flat fixing tools with them, but maybe I’m just paranoid because I got a flat and then had to walk my bike a few miles on one of my first rides in DC. It was nice having their help though–I am perfectly capable of fixing a flat, but they were able to speed up a few steps that always take me longer, and one of them had a small pump, which I prefer for finishing filling the tube up over a C02 cartridge since there’s less of a risk on bursting the tube.

If I get a flat tire on the way home when I no longer have a spare tube I will seriously cry though–we had to use my spare tube since we couldn’t figure out where the hole in her tube was for patching. Luckily I have plenty more spares at home.

Question though–my C02 cartidge is now half used. Do I just let out the rest of the C02? I have a spare one or 2 cartridges at home so I can easily replace it, but right now it’s just sitting half used in my bag…

I label things when they’re half empty but still usable (CO2 cartridges, fuel canisters for camp stoves, even rechargeable batteries…). I use colored electrical tape with a red-yellow-green system, or just mark them with a Sharpie pen.

And I always carry more than one CO2 cartridge, at least two but more often three.
