ParticipantI can’t imagine how confused strava was on my commute home. Did he walk to his bike, ride for a bit, and then walk up the w&od? On Water St, by the Wharf, I pedaled all the way thru a stop sign but I’m still not sure if I technically ran it. That slow.

ParticipantLights were on blink at W&OD/Westmoreland & Lee Hwy. Surprisingly easier to cross than usual. Forgot to bring insulated water bottle after looking at the thermometer this morning, so got to work (really thirsty) with a lump of ice. A great ride, two thumbs up for dawn & sunlight.

ParticipantNot sure why, but this morning seemed particularly beautiful (once my hand warmed up, that is). I wish my pictures did it justice, but alas, they’re just framegrabs from a cheap ‘hd’ video camera.

Here’s hoping the ride home is just as good!

ParticipantI particularly liked the cloudy patterns this morning, that and using my road bike instead of the hybrid.

I agree. The sunshine poking through the clouds was nice enough this morning to have me stop to take a photo… err well instagram

ParticipantCompletely agree about this morning. Not sure what it was, but it made me really happy. Sometimes bike commuting is a slog. Sometimes it’s rapturous. This morning was definitely the latter. On most of the WOD up until Columbia Pike I was just riding hands-free, snapping pics with my phone. So great.

Then I’m glad I was over on the 4MRT climb the hills instead. :p

ParticipantThe wind has GOT to go. But the beautiful skies can stay. Sorry it’s just an iphone pic and the phone didn’t love the darkness, but here is was this morning….

ParticipantToday was awesome! (Once I went back and got my helmet, anyway
)
I saw herons and gooses and seagulls and joggers and cyclists and pedestrians and ALL THE THINGS!
I put on my new bar & grips last night (with some more frantic consulting of cyclingeconomist
Pro Tip: Windex) and my bike looks SWEET.
Also it is 130 grams lighter. Now I will be FAST! (If only
)

ParticipantNo commute for me today, feds are closed due to weather, but not much accumulation in Arlington from all the percipitation we’ve been having. I still got out and did a ride past my workplace in the wet glop and strong winds. I was out about a half hour too long, shoes and socks were soaked through as were my PI AmFib lobster mitts. Feet were just about numb, but at least not cold enough for frost bite, I hope.

We went out for a few hours this morning. I went out in full rain gear. That worked VERY well. My riding partner didn’t prepare so well. We mutually decided to cut it short and only went for about an hour’s spin. It was the right choice. 28 degrees and soaking wet isn’t exactly comfy.

ParticipantI took the long way in today and was passing National Airport as the sun was coming up. A metro train rumbled by overhead and I thought of all the people stuck in that box in the sky, and then I thought, “Oh! I hope Kel isn’t stuck in there!”
good morning for miles. -
