Weird, I hear a British DJ in my head when I ride as well… perhaps we are sharing a brain? We are certainly not sharing legs, damn you’re fast!

How are you getting from Gunston/Valley/Preston/whatever the heck that road is to the trail? On Glebe? I always turn left and go down the hill on Martha Custis and take the ped bridge over to Shirlington.

ParticipantI was dragging this morning. It’s cold. I have some weird allergies that keep coming and going (probably from this crazy weather. Damn you Al Gore!). Two straight date nights with the wife, which is nice, but it means not enough sleep. Also, it’s cold. And also cold. And today was gray and blah.
But there were seven of us at the light SB 14th St NW at I St. Okay, 2 who actually waited for the light to turn green before going. But for a few seconds there were 7. And then that CaBi guy splitting the lane at CaBi top speed to run the light, that guy is going to get himself killed.
No one tried to kill me today, though, so that was good.

ParticipantLast night I changed my own brake pads and adjusted my front derailleur for the first time ever (it was occasionally overshifting and dropping the chain when going to the big ring). Miraculously, my I seemed to have actually fixed the derailleur and I also was able to stop successfully on my ride in, so I felt pretty good this this morning.

ParticipantThe rain, cold and resulting bulky gloves were not conducive to photography during this morning’s ride. I was also rolling very early to be in the barn for a 6:30am meeting. As a result, my photo for today is one of my first call of the day when Mao! helped me communicate with colleagues in Asia.

ParticipantMy Morning Commute… was my first. It takes me as long to get to work as it does on a bad rainy day in the car. Plus I burned 340 calories before work. All this prep work came to fruition. Now if I could only adjust my front deraileur to give me my plaque back.
Realize I now need baby wipes and deodorant in the drawer in my cube.

Non scented wipes are a definite “must have” for those of us w/out shower facilities

Yao Ling looks a lot like Mao!. He’s a pretty standard looking cat. I see photos of cats that look just like him in terms of markings. The big difference is size. Mao!’s pretty big… He’s about 16 pounds and really lean. He’s fluffy which makes him look bulky.
He’s a big part of my morning commute preparation routine. He wants to ride around on my shoulders for at least 5 minutes each morning as I get ready for work.
On Topic: This morning’s commute was AWESOME! Warm, only a little windy and a quite nice sunrise.

ParticipantMy afternoon ride was awesome!
From the intersection of 15th and Maine to the Virginia side of the bridge, I must have passed 200 rain-dampened cars going very slowly. If I’d only had a video cam, I’d be putting that video on a continuous loop so I could relive the moment.
I could only come up with two reasons for the cars going slowly. Either traffic sucked or the motorists were enjoying their commutes so much they were trying to make it last. I’m going with the latter.

Yeah, traffic across the TR bridge was crawling. Smugness abounded.

ParticipantMy morning commute: “AAAAAAAAUUUUUHHHH Edition“
Boy I have had many white-knuckle car rides in my life – I think this was my first white-knuckle bike ride. Had I known how icy the trails were going to be, I would have telecommuted for an hour or two. OMG! And the troll-bridge under the TR was simply an ice skating rink. Got off and walked and slipped it (of course a punch of young punks came riding thru without a problem).
One of those – “glad I made it commutes”

Participantthis morning’s commute:
saw culimerc, then crysb, then crashed on ice at WOD/Custis turnoff, then saw eminva in gtown, who also just fell on ice.
the guy behind me who saw me crash said he just fell too – i think the same spot as eminva, crossing cedan lane?
ice: +3
