ParticipantOuch, sorry to hear about your hip, Emm. Try lots of docs until you find one who can fix you.
As I’ve written previously, when I hurt my ankle in my twenties (and could barely walk for 16 months) I was told I was too old for such rigorous sports. It took eight doctors before I found one with the patience and the brain-power to figure out what was wrong. She fixed me in a week.In the meantime, have you tried standing on your pedals? Maybe it would help….

ParticipantTo the rider with the broad rimmed hat under his helmet that I met this morning on Connecticut, and who told me he was headed up the C&O tonight for an overnighter.
May you have tailwinds in both directions.

ParticipantGot to trail along behind some freds this morning that panic stopped at Great Falls, tried to use their hubs as a warning device to teenagers (my bell worked much better) then took the long way round at Banneker Park. I hope they got to pedal furiously the rest of the day.

ParticipantWonderful day today… great weather & cherry blossoms. Dodging tour buses on Ohio Drive & around Lincoln is never fun but better than near the Jefferson.

ParticipantCouple of police with radar guns this morning on the CCT at the Brookeway Dr entrance. They were gunning both directions. Luckily going uphill I was nice and slow.

ParticipantI must have dumped out my Abus folding lock last Thursday’s or Friday’s commute somewhere. No idea where – I don’t lock up at home, and I didn’t have it Friday when I arrived at work – I’ve been keeping it in the trunk bag instead of strapped into the holder.
If anyone sees it, let me know – I totally forgot that this could be a resource until now.
Friday on the return commute I dropped my phone – but that was a) running Strava and b) being called by my wife repeatedly… had to drive to Palisades to pick it up from the good samaritan who picked it up.

ParticipantStarted as a pretty sweet commute.
Approaching the 14th Street Bridge ramp in Virginia, I discovered my Crank Brothers multi-tool included a crank-sized Allen wrench when I stopped to help a fellow cyclist.
True to its name, the tool saved the day. I was pleasantly surprised and I’d suppose the cyclist that needed a crank-sized Allen wrench was really happy.
All in all, a fine day for a ride.

ParticipantHeadwinds in the morning,
Headwinds in the evening,
Headwinds at suppertime,
When you’re commuting by bike in April,
You can have headwinds all the time.

ParticipantThat’s funny. I feel like having pizza on a bagel.

ParticipantThis is a morning run at commute time, but relevant. Check out the flyby. It was prohibitively difficult and expensive to bring a bike on vacation, so I’ve been running instead. This morning (it’s Monday here in Melbourne) I was running on the early side of commuting. I passed an enormous number of commuters. The temperature here is mild year round, the city is very flat, and there are bike lanes everywhere. Their bikeshare system is floundering, likely because of the helmet laws here. But it was still cool to see so many people riding to work.

ParticipantSticks. Sticks and semi-darkness. That is all.

ParticipantBEST TAILWIND EVER!!! My commute time was more than 5 minutes shorter than my normal commute time. I felt like I was flying.
And the best part? The weather report says I’ll have a tailwind home too. *win*

ParticipantWhy, yes. I did notice that my tights did not quite meet my jersey this morning, leaving a small gap.
