ParticipantThere’s something incredibly frustrating about the rapid weather shifts we experience; I don’t mind cold, and I don’t mind hot, but I mind going from one to the other with great rapidity. Of course, today isn’t really going to be ‘hot’ exactly, but highs around 50 sound awfully warm after last week’s highs in the 20s, right? However, despite being more than 15 degrees warmer this morning than mornings were last week, it didn’t feel so warm, I believe because of the humidity. This caused me to overdress by one layer. Tomorrow is supposed to be truly warm (over 65?!) but rainy. Decisions, decisions.
Oh, and if you’re really bored and need something to do with about 13 minutes of your life, consider watching my first ever ride video. I can’t promise excitement or thrills, but hopefully you can enjoy the music.

ParticipantBike is in the shop, and my CaBi key is broken, so I was on Metro this morning. It wasn’t terrible, and I did manage to have a conversation on Twitter with a reporter from NPR about VMT, congestion pricing, and transit funding, so I think I kept up a bit of my street cred.

Participantfirst time back on the bike in eight days, and i was greeted with a wonderful sunrise behind the washington monument as I crossed the key bridge. Glad to be mostly over my cold and on trails without ice!

ParticipantI pulled out the road bike for today’s commute, about 4 mph faster on average than yesterday’s commute with the studded tires and I wasn’t even trying!
I still don’t like using a backpack when I’m riding.

ParticipantToday =WOOHOO!
Was feeling ill last night but decided today was just too nice to miss.
Good thing all my cold weather gear came in the mail so I could NOT wear it today
I stopped once I got into DC and took my jacket & beanie off because I was way too toasty. New MASH/Giro hi-viz gloves are super comfy. Knee warmers still fall down

Was that you I passed on Penn Ave. this morning? I saw the MASH gloves…but too quick to say anything. Are you also rocking a white messenger bag/pack?
If not, then that means there are three of us out there with bright yellow hands.

WooHoo! Sorry I didn’t have my wits about me to yell “Hi” – next time we’ll need to coordinate a Hi-Viz-Hi-Five.

ParticipantIt was good to be back on the bike today, even though I’m recovering from a cold. The last couple of work days have been transition days, but now I’m finally settled at my new office. I think my new commute takes about the same amount of time, as it’s the same distance, but it was a lot less stressful since it’s about 80% on the Custis now, instead of all surface roads. Getting ready at my new office is a bit more cumbersome and requires a little more work the night before, but it’s still pretty nice. And now I might finally see people I know, since I’m finally riding in the the “normal” Arlington<>DC direction.

So now I’m back to being the only one riding in the wrong direction again… it’s the curse of being British isn’t it?

At least you don’t always feel like you’re upside down all the time!
Yesterday I had to dry my gloves off because of precipitation, today because of perspiration.
Actually I had to strip off arm + leg warmers + gloves halfway into my morning commute.
