ParticipantSuccess! Rum cake made it into work in 1 piece. I cooled it, put it back into the cake pan, saran wrapped the daylights out of the pan, and then glazed it at work. The fact it’s a super moist cake probably helped it survive without breaking up or crumbling.

I may need to invest in a cake caddy that can be bungee corded to my back-rack though. This is the 2-3rd time this year I’ve had to rig a system to get pastries into work. Usually the results aren’t as successful as today was.

ParticipantThat is beautiful. Any chance I could be a taste-tester (I am on 19th street downtown)?

ParticipantTook advantage of the string of non-rainy days and enjoyed the Cross-County Trail for my morning commute. What a great ride through woods. So much more peaceful than the WOD.

ParticipantI forgot to mention that I was passed by a guy on an electric bike on Jefferson in the Mall. Not sure if he was humming/singing to tease the rest of us about how much less effort he was putting into pedaling.
He joined a pack of cyclists a bit ahead of me. They were slowing down a pickup truck that ended up turning right on 4th. I couldn’t help but smile at that.

Participant…was by CABI. Del Ray Apartments station ► Longbridge ► Iwo Jima ► 15th & North Scott. It works! The only downside was hauling that mass of pig iron (sic) up 15th Street.

According to WTOP, I am likely to burst into flames this afternoon.

ParticipantWonderful morning commute – it was overcast and windy, so while hot never really too bad.
@Crickey7, LOL. I do hope you do not spontaneously combust!July 21, 2015 at 12:06 pm #1034301dbb
ParticipantMy commute at Jefferson.
The single point where cyclists could come off the sidewalk at the east driveway (the ones with the Jersey barriers) was blocked by a USPP cruiser. The officer indicated that he had specifically parked there to prevent cyclists coming off the bridge from salmoning up East Basin Drive and getting up on the sidewalk at that point. I attempted (and failed) to help him understand that cyclists heading toward the bridge transitioned from the sidewalk around the Tidal Basin to the roadway at that point and he had blocked the only gap in the 13 (!) cones. He seemed unfazed.
Letters to the NPS are in my future.

Someone was hit there this morning. I hope it wasn’t related…

When I spoke with the officer (at about 7:05 am) he said nothing about a collision. I wouldn’t doubt the obstacle course that has been created could have contributed to a collision. What I see is some sort of amateur hour traffic engineering when what that area needs is to get everybody at the table to come up with a plan.

ParticipantNice, dbb!
A bit pissed at myself for falling for that 50% chance of thunderstorm forecast today. Could have ridden today and avoided the signal problem that caused a backup on the Metro n the way home.
