Yeah I like the bike lanes on Commonweath and there aren’t as many stop signs or lights as Royal or the MVT through Old Town. Have they reopened Four Mile Run trail under the bridges to MVT then?
I guess so. I didn’t know it had been closed as this is my first time on that route, but I got through just fine.

Participant…. was disgusting. I was soaked just waiting for my Garmin to connect… went through 2 water bottles in the first 15 miles, that’s a first for me. Perhaps being hung-over contributed.

ParticipantHot indeed. I put my ride clothes up to dry around 7 and they were still pretty moist at noon when I left

ParticipantI had plans to do the Tri360 ride this morning, but when I let the dog out at 7am and it was already miserably warm and humid, I thought “you know, today feels like a good day to focus just on school work.” So yeah, I commuted back to bed and then down to the couch where I’ve been sitting since this morning.

Not me but that person looks familiar. I always wear black bike shorts. THEY’RE SLIMMING!
Speaking of Lee – I find myself going up it now in the afternoons because the Custis sidewalk there is so bad and the far right lane on three lane Lee Hwy is always clear.

Same here. No one showed for the Coffee Shop Ride from Papillon Cycles (which stops at the coffee shop next to Tri360). So I rode down to Phoenix Bike, said the heck with it, and rode back home. 5 miles on the day. Get ’em tomorrow, though…

Yes. A couple months ago.

Same here, but that doesn’t stop drivers from honking, yelling, and passing way too close. Even though there are two empty lanes to the left. And having no bailout on the right doesn’t help because of the wall. There should be a bike lane there.

ParticipantThis morning, I rode with my wife and kids to school. The big difference was that this time, my wife was riding the cargo bike with the kids for the first time, and I was just there for moral support. If all goes well on the ride home (the uphill ride), she’ll do drop off and pickup twice a week or so.

ParticipantMy morning commute sucked–I had to drive in today. Boo.
Slowly getting into the grove of clipless and road bike. Previously I had been hybrid-based. It’s quite the difference and I’m still trying to figure out the optimal cleat positioning. That and I moved my saddle up from what the bike store had it at. Felt way too low. So the saddle height feels right, but now it’s getting the damn cleats adjusted right to avoid a little bit of pain in the middle right side of my foot. Any suggestions from the knowledgeable group here? They’re spl cannondale for whatever difference it makes along with canondale shoes.

There should be a bikes-only, protected, two-way cycletrack there, leaving the sidewalk to the pedestrians.

Interesting reading, although I haven’t tried the midfoot cleat position yet.

ParticipantAlas, my morning commute was not a missed connection.
Coming up the ramp from the MVT to the 14th Street Bridge, I felt my rear tire go soft.
Not wanting to do bike maintenance on the bridge, I did the walk of shame to the benches by the snack bar at the Jefferson.
The tire’s failure was a small piece of wire that was a bear to get out.
It was likely my time as I’ve not flatted in about a year, validating my investment in Gatorskins.
A number of cyclists checked to see if I needed help. Thanks to all for checking on me.
