The trails were hard packed sand. I had glow in the fog rims and had no problems.
Fixed that last bit for you.

Participant…. should have been animated by 1950’s Disney artists; Singing frogs, sun bursts following me the entire way to work, a soft gentle wind keeping me cool, a bubbling brook escorting me for a few miles, turtles marching, and I swear a butterfly landed on my head… then I visited with Dirt for a while.

It really was that kind of morning. Simply lovely and great to see you!

I expect when you booked this trip you thought you’d be avoiding the worst of Washington, DC August weather. Well, let me tell you …

ParticipantWas just lovely…

ParticipantAnother great commute. Bummed because I had time this AM and simply forgot it was coffee Friday day. 😡
Still nowhere near being in shape. Have to say that I am tired and looking forward to a no ride Saturday by the end of the week… 20 miles a day, give or take, on the commuting tank hurts. 😮

ParticipantThis weather! (I hope we’re not all doomed. 😮 )

ParticipantThanks to the cool weather, I rode in my casual Friday clothes, which I quite enjoy. It’s nice to be able to walk from the parking garage to my desk and not have to worry about then heading down to the gym to shower and change. And come quittin’ time, I get to just walk straight out to the bike without changing first. The only bad thing is that 80 degrees is getting a bit warm to do 8 hilly-ish miles in jeans, but I rode my shifty bike today so it’s not as much of a problem.

I’m jealous. Anything above 4 miles and I begin to sweat, even on chilly mornings.
This may be partly due to the fact I ALWAYS feel like I’m running late to work, so end up riding as fast as I safely can on my ride in…

It takes a very conscious effort for me to not go all out, for sure. I usually arrive pretty sweaty, but if I ride at a relatively leisurely pace I can stay mostly dry.

ParticipantAnother very pleasant, enjoyable ride to work this AM. The cloud cover made the temperature puh-fect.
Loving this weather!

ParticipantI just hope this weather can last through say Thanksgiving. Shoot, better yet, through Freezing Saddles so it won’t live up to it’s name like last year.
I did feel kind of bad this morning. Someone passed me on MVT south of airport. Had a BA tag on his backpack. And then I proceeded to pass him just a short while later because I climb hills fairly fast. Thankfully it didn’t turn into a leapfrog game.

ParticipantI saw some dude flying a drone (looked like a DJI Phantom) with a mounted camera over Freedom Plaza circa 8:50AM. He had it up fairly high, maybe 20-30 feet above the tops of the fairly tall trees on the SW corner. He was starting to attract some attention from tourists and the traffic cop at 14th and Penn. I hope he’s not having a very bad day now.
What I found particularly interesting was that I couldn’t hear it at all over the ambient noise. I’d heard that the major drawback is that they’re majorly noisy. But I only noticed it because I saw a group of kids pointing up at it excitedly (and I almost didn’t look because I thought they were just mistaking some news ‘copter for Marine One).

ParticipantAs I was leaving home, a Capital Bikeshare Sprinter (but not one of the white rebalancing ones) pulled up to the location by my apartment where one of the the new Del Ray CaBi stations is supposed to be. Encouraging sign for future progress!

MPD had a helicopter in the air and cruisers in the area shortly after. My guess is the drone pilot is indeed having a pretty bad day, if they caught him at least.
