Well, we have VDOT.
So Arlington, like Fairfax County, uses VDOT for road maintenance? I’d still say pressure the county. They should get a better service level agreement from VDOT.

ParticipantThe road at the side of my house was milled on July 31, and the one in front was milled a few days later. They don’t even have signs up yet saying when they will come back to finish the job. Sigh!

You should talk to your public works folks about that, and the politicians if needed. In Alexandria city, we normally don’t have more than one business day of milled roads unless unexpected bad weather delays the paving phase.

See, if VDOT approached this like Alexandria, there’d be no need for signs, as they’d be back as soon as possible. Demand change!

No. Arlington maintains their own streets, except for certain VDOT-controlled arterials (Glebe Rd, 50, 66, 395, Jefferson david Highway (route 1), Lee Highway, most of Washington Blvd) and yes, Arlington could benefit from keeping a tighter leash on their paving contractors. Part of the 9th Street Bike Blvd has been left milled but unpaved for days now. Not a bike-friendly surface.

ParticipantI rode in with a stupid grin today, puzzlingly brought on by towing my trailer, and possibly also by nice weather. Cargo Fargo, away!

ParticipantClarendon is still just milled. Perhaps it was not a good day to bring the bike with 23s on it. The weather was nice though.

ParticipantNice weather, rather windy, but still a pleasant ride into work.
Not feeling any particular excess of energy, but the ride in always puts me in a better frame of mind.

The National Weather Service report for Reagan National was that winds were calm at both the 6:52 and 7:52 readings. Where were you riding, or did you just finish your commute?

ParticipantThe bike part of my commute was as great as usual, but I decided to drive part way of it and that part was terrifying. It is possible to report a dangerously driving vehicle? A car up ahead was seriously off their rocker. Blazed through the bike lane on Old Dominion at 35+ mph to overtake other cars (there’s only one lane there), drove *onto* the median on Lee Highway accidentally going faster than that, did sudden double lane changes, etc.

ParticipantRode partway with Rockford10, then decided to put in some extra miles…that’s when it started pouring. Still, I had fun. I have a fan going in my office to dry out my clothes, but looking out the window, I’m starting to wonder if it will matter on the ride home. I guess putting on clothes when they’re dry will be easier, at least.

ACPD non emergency number (703-558-2222) will take reports of reckless drivers, though if it’s that bad, I’d just call 911. Wow.
