Are those foam? They look like they’d be quite fun to ride through. Like on a CaBi during an early lunch.

No, the boxes were plywood, and still there at close to 9 am. I called 9-1-1 because, hello, crates in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue. If that’s not a suspicious package, I don’t know what is.

I was surprised that the emergency dispatchers seemed unaware of them, more than an hour after they first appeared on Twitter.

if someone had simply moved them into the main roadway, I’m sure DDOT would have been there almost immediately to remove them

Major wipe out at Trollheim. EMS was on its way with many cyclists stopped caring for the guy that was down. When those boards are wet, they are slippery.

I hurt myself badly there two years ago. Couldn’t ride for several months. If you see someone unclip his feet from the pedals and slow way down on that boardwalk, it might be me.

These were at the entrance to the Pride festival yesterday. Why there weren’t removed with everything else for the festival is anyone’s guess.

Ok, good, I turned off before there. I had originally thought they were further west and was trying to figure out how I had missed them and starting to worry I might be losing my mind.

The garbage truck took them away 15 minutes ago.

Easy peasy ride in this AM compared to my 77 mile ride Friday. I didn’t even feel like I’d ridden anywhere by the time I got to work after 7.5 miles. :)

Not sure what happened, but there were three or four cyclists all with their bikes stopped along the MVT at the north end of the field at Gravelly Point A Nat’l Parks Police cruiser was on the scene talking with them what seemed to be individually in turn. A second one pulled up through the grass as I passed. No one appeared hurt and there were officers on the scene, so I just kept rolling on through, but I’m curious what was going on.

Fair enough, but if I am losing my mind, it would be a real kick in the teeth to do it in a way that interferes with my ability to complain about things blocking the bike lane.

I broke a spoke this morning four miles from home and 10.5 from work. After removing it, removing the rear brake cable to open the brakes as wide as possible, I realized I could ride with considerable rubbing of tire on chainstay. I was happy to save the cost of a taxi or the delay and inconvenience of asking my wife for a ride. So I rode on, and by the time I got to work, realized that I’d ruined a brand new $50 Continental 4000s tire by rubbing it on the chainstay approximately 8,058 times. Would have been cheaper to call a cab.
