Saw the same thing this morning and had the same reaction. My guess is that a seagull dropped it.
If so, I would have loved to see the expression on the ped’s face if it fell to the earth as they were walking by!

ParticipantAlmost ran over the headless fish as well. Reminded me of my favorite song from the 80s (song starts at 2:20):

Lemme guess, at Penn and 12th? Every day I see some mouthbreather jump that light despite it usually being (typically homicidal) metrobusses making that left off Penn. It’s a really short protected light cycle too, so their unwillingness to put up with that crap is doubly understandable. For whatever reason, cyclists seem not to be so brazen about it at Penn and 7th.
Close, Penn & 11th!
Much better this morning…as an added bonus, the cabbie making a U-Turn across Penn saw me before hitting me, so that was good. Can’t wait for the rubber curbs.

Beat me to it!

ParticipantThe fish was likely part of an advance guard action in a larger “war on fish” that will result in converting some riverine areas from fish parking to mountain bike trails.

I’m fairly certain that was the worst biking weather we’ve had since March. Ugh.

This weather must really be putting people in good moods. In early April when I started commuting everyone just growled and looked angry all the time. These past 2 weeks it’s been nothing but friendly bikers–a few gave me encouragement on a big hill over the weekend, and last week on the MVT a biker who wanted to pass me waited until I got around some massive puddles before doing it, which was awesome–those were some huge puddles which would have soaked me. Outside of the occasional idiot, everyone has been really nice on the trails recently.

I’ve never seen that many bikes in DC stopped in a (mostly) single-file line! Hope springs eternal in the human breast!

ParticipantSo today I managed to leave a little early so I could JRA my way to work.
Coming into Vienna, I see a “regular” with his bike on the side of the trail, on the phone, I ask if he needs help. His Chain is broken. Let me see if I have a chain tool. I do. Five quick minutes of bike mechanic demo 101, the chain is fixed, WOD Trail Marshall got to stop and see others helping out riders, and he is on his way.
So back on my bike, feeling very Dirt-like I ride on.
One guy passes me, .oO(JRA,JRA,JRA) another guy passes me .oO(JRA,JRA,JRA) only he’s not going away like he should. I step it up just a little bit, he comes back to me. As soon as it starts to go uphill I ride around him and continue on.
As I clear the intersections, my “victim” manages to catch up and ride through (good deed #2).
Eventually, I manage to run down the first rider, and just ride right around him too. Now I’m pulling 2, and clearing intersections. All this, while I’m wearing my Bike Arlington Jersey.Yea Me!

ParticipantFor some reason, my morning commute was a bit slower than usual today. It was worth it, though!

ParticipantHad a fantastic commute this morning! Beautiful weather, and I got my fastest time ever up the Virginia Ln climb, despite having lots of junk crammed in my new Ortliebs (I don’t think my bike has ever been this heavy, but I love being prepared for anything!). I guess a bowl of Corn Pops and two big mugs of coffee is the perfect boost!

ParticipantLovely morning on my commute from Arlington to Reston to the new job. Looking forward to hitting one of the coffee clubs.
