When the light turned green, she turned into the cycle track, completely blocking it, while waiting for the heavy pedestrian traffic to clear.
Heavy pedestrians make the worst kind of traffic.

My problem, as an irredeemable misanthrope, is a tendency to blow way past “good natured chiding.” Once, I think I caused an old man to throw himself off of the 14th street bridge in despair.1 Safer for everyone if I just spray people like they’re a misbehaving cat. There’s no way that can go wrong!
1 Hyperbole contained herein. No old men were actually harmed in the making of this post.2
2An old man may, however, have been saddened in the making of this post.May 29, 2014 at 2:25 pm #1002758kcb203
ParticipantI woke up with a sore throat for the second day in a row, and I’ve got to get to Costco soon anyway to buy big bags of dog food. All that, plus the rain, made me decide to drive from Falls Church to Chinatown and run to Costco at lunch. Urrrgh. 52 minutes to drive versus my regular 39 minutes on the bike.

My wife is over in Portland for work and sent me this from her morning run. Made me wonder what Arlington’s shiny new one says–so I figured someone here knows or maybe I should not be lazy on my way home and go up a few blocks to find out.

I think the W&OD Bon Air East is a little off – reads over 40,000 while nothing else is over 3500. Is this like the rural road where a farmer came out with his tractor and drove back and forth over a traffic counter, or is it the suicidal bunnies zigzaging back and forth there?

Quite likely!
This is the raw data–everything gets normalized down the road: http://www.bikearlington.com/pages/biking-in-arlington/counter-dashboard/about-the-counters/

ParticipantI’ve seen a lot of weird things happen during my commute, but watching a man undress in front of the police and then get tazered several times tops them all. W&OD between Va lane and Shreve rd.

Well, I thought they were coming after me so I didn’t take any pictures.

Ah. That explains the empty shoes in the middle of the trail, just ahead of the three cruisers that were parked there. I didn’t get pictures either–it seems gauche to stand by snapping pictures of police activity; besides, I rolled through after the naked man event (thankfully).
