ParticipantWell, if you’re really lucky, the rain will hold off until you get home.

ParticipantI saw someone had taken a spill at the MVT/Memorial Bridge junction. I slowed, but someone else had already stopped. Glad you got up and it looked like just had a bad case of road rash. That portion of the wood path deck always seems so treacherous and it would be really great if they would put down grips on it, but that will never happen. Hope my slow ride by assessment was right and you’re alright.

ParticipantI feel a little inadequate after seeing reports of the Kill Bill Century, but this was my first commute since my century out in CA. Traveling all day yesterday, up at 545 to go to the gym, and still on west coast time meant I was TIRED this morning. But still, a nice commute.

ParticipantI totally cheated today and rode an ecargobike to work in a suit. it was fun and I didn’t sweat, but not as much fun as riding tandem with Dirt and wearing a suit. Some super fast fixed guy commented just near the Custis pond and then dude took off. I was going about 19 and he flew by and disappeared around the corner.

Was the comment “cheater”?

ParticipantLesson learned from last night’s commute home:
When you see some reference to a trail problem that impacts your intended route, it behooves you to check into it and not just brush it off. I refer, of course, to the sewage spill on the CCT. I did get to show off my shouldering skills as I carried my (fully loaded, 40 plus pounds) commuter up the stairs to the tow path. I don’t think I’m ready to do that every day, but it could have been worse. At least I stayed dry!

I think it was more along the lines of “that’s a nice look” (suit plus cargo bike)

ParticipantI’ve tried carrying my (64 lb. with an average load) bike up those steps. After one episode, I decided that it was easier just to bike back to Wisconsin Avenue and bike up that to M Street, even though it’s longer.

ParticipantStarted out by barely catching up to vvill on the way to Vienna Thursday Coffee Club. Then a well-attended VTCC followed by a ride east with rpiretti and PeteD. Swung wide for a long loop back to work in Vienna. Beautiful day for a ride!

ParticipantI saw PeteD on Custis on my way to work — he’s everywhere!
