Phatboing
Participant… was in a bus, because after surviving an entire winter, I’ve been taken out for now by an angry imp in my throat regions. In spring!
People in cars (Rt 7 going to Tysons) looked more miserable than I was, though. At least I had a book to read.

Wasn’t me, and I’ve never even seen your Disc Trucker, but I’ll give you compliments anyway, if only for good taste in bike selection.

GuestMy morning commute… did me (and my legs) in. I got all cocky there for a minute at the end of freezing saddles– oh, see, I can do a century now and all, I am an awesome strong bike rider. Clearly 1) I am not as tough as I think I am and 2) I did not ride up enough hills over the winter. Or something. (i am also looking forward to this stupid finger being healed and getting rid of the stupid splint so that shifting the front is not so problematic and i am not so hesitant to go to the small ring when necessary. climbing in too hard a gear doesn’t help complaining legs, probably.)
oh, fast friendly guy, I see your comments on strava but I can’t answer them because I’m at work, and while the federal government apparently thinks that internet explorer 7 is the epitome of up to date technology, strava does not agree and “no longer supports [my] browser”. The answers are, 1) dark-ish when I got home. I don’t mind the last 8 or 10 miles in the dark, it’s some of the further out, more rural roads that are unlit, narrow, pothole-ridden (though this one can be said for the close-in urban roads as well), and where drivers i think are really not expecting cyclists that I’m scared to ride in the dark. and 2) drove to work (with bike), rode bike home, left car at work. rode bike back in this morning, will drive car home (with bike). Creative commuting.

ParticipantI lifted weights this morning and twerked my shoulder and neck. I was all excited for my 14 mile commute from Falls Church to Reston, but as soon as I mounted my bike, I realized I could only look down, and not forward. I decided it wasn’t worth the pain, so I turned around and got in the car. Total biking today: .11 miles and 48 seconds.

I think that twerking with weights is a fitness folly.

ParticipantMy commute today started with a ride with the family to the preschool for teacher conferences (YAY!!!)
Then continued on the neighborhood streets of South Arlington, which are quite pleasant (ahhhhh)
And onto Fort Myer and through the Cemetery (BEST COMMUTE IN DC!!!!)
until I got to the ANC Metro… holy moly everyone and their brother is out seeing the Cherry Blossoms today. It was slow rolling to Capitol Hill from there. But a very, very beautiful roll.

ParticipantHas anyone heard about any goings on at National Arpt. this AM? As I was riding by (around 7:45?) there was a plane surrounded by fire and EMS trucks and a bunch of passengers deboarded and gathered on the tarmac a safe distance away. I slowed a little to try to figure out what had happened, but couldn’t figure anything out. No news reports showing up on Google news search. Just curious as it was something of an odd scene.

ParticipantI was greatly enjoying the fine weather and feeling particular light on the pedals this morning. I decided to take off my windbreaker so stopped on the bridge to Columbia Island. When I went to put the jacket in my pannier, low and behold, no paniner! Yes, for the first time ever, I forgot to attach my bag to my bike which contains important essentials like change of clothes, lock, wallet, etc. #*&^%%$!!!! Fortunately I was not far from home and if it hadn’t been for the very warm sunshine, I would have gone all the way downtown to the doctor’s office and had a real problem on my hands.

ParticipantI’ve been wanting to get my hubs tightened up for a while, and finally decided to stop at the Bike Rack today. I was planning to drop the bike and either Bikeshare or maybe walk to work. But they said, “Oh, that should be 15 minutes”, so I stayed. Ended up getting to work more or less on time with a much nicer ride as my rear wheel isn’t flopping around like a fish on 14th Street.

ParticipantThis morning’s ride made my day! I rode out with Rockford10, and just as we reached the W&OD, we met Dickie! Had a lovely ride out to Gallows, chatting it up all the way. Then I rode up Gallows with Rockford to her job (to see what her commute is like). Rode back down Gallows and through Electric Ave to Vienna, but instead of heading straight to work, I tried a paved path through the parks in the neighborhood behind my office; I had never been through there, and found it a lovely ride from East St to Old Courthouse Rd! Who knew? I wish every day could be like this!

Sadly, no large black dildos were found this morning.

ParticipantOnly took about 10 seconds too realize it must be ACPS and FCPS spring break…the reduction in traffic is astounding.

Odd… I heard my wife saying this a few days ago to her friends.

It was great riding with you both as well… such a perfect day. GregB escorted me earlier on my ride so it was a total forum day. Glad you got a chance to explore.
