Terrible image quality but…did I see a fox on Custis today?

Yes. Our local listserve has been abuzz with fox and even coyote sightings. Expect more: recently, a neighbor saw 2 foxes mating.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

My neighbor feeds the foxes. Adorable, maybe. But ya see, the problem with this is…. I own a hound dog. And my hound dog is indignified that the fox is getting preferential treatment. My hound dog stands on top of my flower bed, to peer over my 5 foot fence, to spy on the activities of the fox. The hound then zooms to the back corner of the fence in order to catch a scent of the fox, and ensure that the fox is not encroaching on our territory. The hound then repeats by going back to the flower box and letting out a howl that can be heard for about 1/2 a mile.

We dont make good neighbors. But then again, our neighbor is attracting the nuisance.

One time the fox followed us through the park, yipping angrily at my dogs the entire time.

I’m fairly certain the couple of times my dog has jumped over our fence have been motivated by fox sightings. The every day sightings of bunnies, squirrels, and middle school students don’t inspire such feats.

Saw two foxes a few days ago on the morning commute in Clarendon. They were on Clarendon Blvd at the corner of the Crate and Barrel. I suppose they needed some new furnishings, and didn’t have Dickie’s number….

If you see foxes, let these guys know. They are always looking for them.

Went to roll out this morning and realized I had a flat tire. I would have been bummed out, but I got to make my most pro move ever, and instead of changing the tire, I changed the bike.

    …was AWESOME!

I woke up with a head cold, which sucks, but the day went uphill sharply from the moment I got the bike out of the barn. Walked Miss Slowtriguy to school while pushing the bike, which was great. Hopped on and from that moment to walking into my office, everything that could have gone right did. Drivers stopped appropriately w/o Helpy McHelperson appearing. Every rider I saw was a PAL. Great conversation at a stoplight with a fellow rider. Got several “good mornings!” back to my usual morning greeting — which is unusual; most of the time folks just don’t say anything back.

The cool weather cleared out my sinuses, the sun warmed my face, and wheels rolled along, and even the kamikaze squirrels slept in this morning…

And to top it off, I think I swapped head bobs with Dickie heading westbound on the W&OD just west of the Brandymore castle hill about 0845.

How many people get to say that their AWESOME commute eased their head cold, got them exercise, and let them exchange “good mornings” with several random strangers?

Pardon me while I be blissful until That Meeting late this morning…

That was me… good to see you. I was having a similar morning… terrible hangover and sinus pain cured by FCCII and a beautiful morning ride.

Beautiful day for a ride, except I’m sooo tired! Curse you, Freezing Saddles! I only added one mile to my regular commute. :(

Yesterday, though, during my effort to add miles to my commute, I found a new Strava segment in the neighborhood near my office. Today, despite being tired, I tackled it and got 2nd overall! Thank you, Freezing Saddles! :)

Yeah…knew that would happen. The segment doesn’t look like a particularly competitive one, which is probably why I’m second overall.

    Feel free to sandbag it.
