There’s an option for “Fast hybrid” but not for “heavy, tank-like hybrid.”

Yeah, the categories are somewhat incomplete. My problem is that that they don’t have one for drop bar-equipped MTB. I think I arrived at my 10 calling it a touring bike, since for all intents and purposes, my frankenbike is similar in geometry to a modern 26″ tourer, though I could be a nine depending on how I classify what I wear.

For all the Cat 6’ers out there, this can make you feel better about being passed, as long as the person passing you is obviously of a lower FCN. :)

I call those the Custis Moguls.

    That’s probably better.

Do you actually commute on the cargo bike? And I’d think the electric assist would make you lose a few points too…

He has the warmest, non-icy “commute” of all of us.

Well, the kids do. The rain cover doesn’t cover him.

A design flaw, kind of like the old hansom cabs?

The horse never was covered, regardless of the style of wagon.

You’re talking about the stoker, I’m thinking of the driver sitting up behind the cabin. :p

Today was a heavily multi-modal day, so my only biking involved a CaBi. But I think I might be forming an inordinate attachment to today’s CaBi mount; I’ve now ridden three separate trips on the old girl. (yes, definitely the same one…)

I’m about to head out on trip #4 — I wonder if she’ll be waiting?

I feel like crud this morning (A bit of a cold, up too late helping my wife cook for her holiday party) and so I took Metro. Even though it’s the wrong end of the station at both ends, I got on the very first car and had a seat to myself the whole way. The single, solitary thing I miss about my old commute that I really can’t do on my bike commute is read. In the nine months I spent working at Pentagon City and riding Metro every day (this was before I rediscovered biking), I read more books than in the previous five years combined. This morning I almost missed my stop because it was so quiet and I was deep in a book. It was nice.

Reading’s the only thing I miss about Metro, too.

I would have been asleep, and definitely would have missed my stop. This morning was awesome! Warm, fast, no crazy stuff. A great last commute of the year (and a great way to end this very crazy week).

An extra 30 min nap on the train is the only reason I take metro, and some days it is quite welcome
