Thanks for reminding me, I just don’t drive enough to remember this even though we paid two months ago.

Agree that the traffic impact should be zilch, but it is extremely common for people to get in the left turn lane for WB Lee and continue straight into the turn lane for the GWMP (where the officer is parked). Illegal as that is, I’m not sure why APD would go out of their way to enforce it, so I’m wondering if there’s something else going on.
Future Curb Bump Out?

That is actually in the plan, although construction isn’t supposed to start until spring 2014: http://www.arlingtonva.us/departments/EnvironmentalServices/ProjectsAndPlanning/capprojects/page63515.aspx

It would seem to be a pretty difficult way to enforce stickers, since they’re only required of vehicles registered in Arlington, and I’m pretty sure that intersection is traversed by lots of other Virginia residents.

Other NoVA jurisdictions also have decals, and my understanding is that they coordinate so that all are using the same color decals for any given year for easier enforcement efforts.
That said, lots of jurisdictions don’t require them, and even if one had an expired decal, it’s probably more likely to be spotted/verified/ticketed if your car is parked on-street with an invalid one. (Don’t ask me how I know.)

Including the very large jurisdiction that nearly surrounds Arlington.

I just deflated thinking that the recent enforcement hasn’t been about the crosswalk, but about stopping cars from illegally going straight from the left-only-onto-Lee to the left-only-to-the-GWMP.
Did anyone see ACPD actually stop cars that had blown through the crosswalk? Or stop anyone? (I’ve seen cars stopped, but not the behavior that led to the stop).

A couple mornings ago I saw an officer pull someone over who was going NB on Lynn and turned left to go WB on Lee. It’s generally a legal turn–I’m not sure if she got busted for doing it from the straight ahead lane or because she ran the light. I thanked the officer, and he glared at me. Perhaps he didn’t hear me and thought I was giving him a hard time.

ParticipantWeather said 19, but Garmin said 12. Full mittens did well. Feet stayed warm for 10/12 miles.

ParticipantMany of you already know that Moose Mitts are sexy, but I found out this morning that they are really good at keeping your hands warm. I will be listing them on craigslist for the ride home,,,,$1200 each.

ParticipantOutfitted the fast bike with a small rack for commuting/touring this weekend. It’ll be back on the touring bike tomorrow with the rain, but it’s nice to be able to ride the fast guy without a backpack — it really spiced up the morning commute!
Plus, bonus this morning — there was a bike cop out cruising the PA Ave cycletrack. Cheers!

ParticipantIt was cold and crowded today. I had a big box strapped to the rack so I didn’t think I could do the 14th St Bumpfest, and I took 15th instead. It’s so slow. And the shoalers. But no cars tried to kill me, so that was good.
Animals were out to get me this morning, though. First I put on my shoe covers for the first time this season, only to find them soiled by some very old cat puke. Then, waiting for the light at 15th and K, a bird pooped on my arm.
