cvcalhounParticipantSad to say, I’m out of this one. Due to a broken leg, I can’t bike to find things. And due to having had to switch my status to “Friend,” I’m not eligible anyway. But I’ll look forward to seeing what everyone else does. And if this competition happens again next year, I’ll be back.

Participant#scavhunt 2/17 – There are four TRAILs here. The paved W&OD and 4MRT, the crushed stone connector TRAIL to N Quintana St, and the dirt TRAIL along the south bank of 4MR, up Brandymore Castle, and over to the East Falls Church Park basketball court. This sign used to be at the start of the dirt TRAIL. I believe the crushed stone TRAIL is not a “natural” trail which refers to dirt TRAILs in Arlington County. So why was the sign moved where it would confuse people?

NadineParticipantHey Karen
Is that the trail entrance from the Reston South Lakes shopping center?

Participant@Nadine – that’s at Hunters Woods Village Center. It goes under Colt’s Neck Rd. karenbikes2 and I live in the same barrio. 🙂

The Klingle Valley Trail was one of the longest-delayed projects in DC. It follows the path of Klingle Road, which was one of the few ways of getting from the east side of Rock Creek Park to the west side. Because it was in a narrow, steep stream valley, it often washed out and, in 1991, was closed due to the collapse of the underlying sewer.
It sat abandoned for many years while a fight broke out what to do with it. Drivers wanted to keep the road open while others pushed for a trial to replace the roadway.
It wasn’t until 2017 that the trail was finally opened.

Therapy is hard to find for kids with ASD, but it’s easy to find a TRAIL and get some of the benefits and a lot of joy.

chill-dadParticipant@bikingjenn, I love that shot. Did you have to wait for the sun to get into just the right spot?
@Serdar, I love the wordplay.February 17, 2025 at 5:23 pm #1137258

Oh pine! The weather took you down. But you did not go easy; you did not just lie down. You left a trail of tears.
