I solved this one in 2 — it’s a VERY important word to me! (Me too! The importance part, not the solving)TRAIL

Participant@nadine, the trail in the photo I entered today for #scavhunt is closer to Hunters Woods Shopping Center where it goes under Colts Neck Rd.

ParticipantInteresting @Karen. It looks so much like the south lakes one. Maybe those squared off trail tunnels are a Reston thing 🤔🤷🏻

Participant2/17/25 – TRAIL
Can’t forget the Custis TRAIL! I love the Custis trail cuz it takes me almost door to door to DC – AND it has lights that go on at dusk & it gets plowed.
Plus it’s hilly, not a trail trail like the others. I don’t always appreciate the climbs, but the hills and twists make the trail SO much more interesting. Plus, I shoveled a bit of it during snowmageddon, so I feel bit of ownership of it now 😁🤷🏻
The only thing I’d improve are the lights. They’re the dim.yellow sodium lights – when one goes out there’s a dark spot. I’d like to see them changed to bright LED lights.
I want this for multiple reasons, one of which is personal – I can’t see in the dark. Even on the lit Custis I hafta slow down a lot at night. (Glaucoma x35 years.) However I’ve talked with ppl with good night vision, and they’ve agreed with me about the dark door when one of the lights on the Custis is out! So yeah great trail, but room for improvement.

Participant2/18/2025 Indie (short for independent)
An independent owner (Pete Buck), in front of his independent bike shop (Handy Bikes), leaning on a bike that his independent shop recently worked on. Shop is located at 3800 Wheeler Avenue in Alexandria, currently most everything in the shop is 20%-50% off.

Participant#scavhunt 2/18 – On this morning’s cold ride, I stopped for my ABC at Bluestone Lane’s Boro Café in Tysons in a stand-alone building. It is not an INDIE, but part of a small chain of “Australian” Cafes and coffeeshops. I had been to their Upper East Side café in NYC located in a portion of the Church of Heavenly Rest on 5th Ave across from the E 90th St entrance to Central Park. It was always very busy

Participant2/18 – Indie
You can find so many interesting titles at an independent bookstore that never would be carried by a chain.

Participant2/18 indie
Angelika pop up near Union Market shows indie films. The “let’s rethink high school” mural next door–in the spirit of more “indie” thinking?
