I’m happy to head this up again this year.
Last year we used the Wordle game to generate the daily hunt objectives. If you participated and have strong feelings about disliking it, please (kindly) share that with me along with any ideas on how to make it better.
All of us who have run this contest can tell you that posting the search topic is the easy part of the contest. Deciding on the winning photo is the hard part. It’s often so subjective. So if you’ve been frustrated in past years and want to help provide a different perspective, please send me an email to Westenhoff at Gmail and we can figure out how to divide and inspire. Note: if you are a judge, you can participate, but you cannot compete.
Looking forward to searching alongside all of you!

2/15/CROOK: There aren’t a lot of sheep in the DMV, but we found a stylish crook at St Stephen’s church on Penn Ave NW:
2/15 – A CROOK may be using the services here… maybe not the library or the park. But there was also a law office on the next block.
#scavhut 2/18 – SUAVE used to be a common lower cost personal care products brand, my quick and dirty search at Walgreens in Westover only found these three.

The surface of this lovely sculpture in Reston Town Center (Fidelity of Form by Dennis Heimbach c.2005, in stainless steel) is smooth, and smooth is a synonym of SUAVE.

I find this streetlamp suave—it keeps shining even after being knocked down by today’s strong winds.

I subscribed to the Merrium-Webster definition as well in choosing this house with smooth curves along with the garden wall.
Another example of this definition is I N describing wine.

That was one of the subjects under discussion last night with my neighbors, whom I had invited over for dinner. I served a wine from Ludon, where they have family ties: 1990 Château La Lagune. This looked far younger than its years and had a delightfully evanescent nose of ripe Cabernet, humus, and truffle. The wine was suave and seamless, by no means powerful, but very elegant and poised. It was as good as it will ever be, even if I’m sure its plateau will be quite long.”2/16/25 – suave
I grew up bilingual – except mostly we spoke both languages together, Spanglish. I’ve only just come to realize that this language is kinda unique to Puerto Rico. When you hear a song on the radio with a line in English followed by a rhyming line on Spanish, you know you’re in PR.
Anyhow in the spirit of Spanglish, and 😁 because we’ve been encouraged to be creative, I did this one as though today’s word were in Spanish. SUAVE in Spanish means SOFT.
Lookit this cute li’l pup – his curly fur looks so SOFT. Oh and the pup’s family is actually Spanish speaking, so SUAVE is what he looks, to me
