ParticipantI’m just glad my shifter broke this week and I’m stuck on 7. I’d hate to pedal too easily.

ParticipantIt looks to me like the only reason the cones were moved this morning is b/c some employee needed to pull his car in there, which is why they’re stacked up to the side. I think they’ll be back.

ParticipantGood thing the MVT always has a head wind no matter which way I’m riding. Bring on the breeze.
Will anyone visit me in the hospital over the weekend?

I’ve seen some (kind of confusing) stuff online about getting from the MV Trail (heading north) to Long Bridge Park, but as someone who doesn’t know the area/trail ALL that well, can someone please lay it out simply? I’ll be towing a little one and don’t want to have to hunt around. Thanks!!
Heading north along the airport, look for the sign directing you to Crystal City. Take that path and make a right on Crystal Drive when you come out of the tunnel. Crystal Drive will lead you to Long Bridge Park.
Heading south, you can take the tunnel to the Columbia Island Marina (just north of the 14th street bridge), go through Ladybird Johson park and cross the wooden bridge to Boundary Channel Drive. Head south on Boundary Channel and it ends at Long Bridge Drive.

ParticipantAt least the trails won’t be crowded this afternoon.

ParticipantA local ride with the kids would be good.

Oh no, is it like that? I was thinking of going next week. Although probably no one will be there next week, come to think of it, since everyone will take the week off. Then all the people that aren’t there won’t talk to me!
I went today and forced myself on others — they graciously accepted. It was nice to meet dbb, vvill, and DismalScientist, as well as some BikeDC folks.

It’s true, my delicate and flowerlike feelings are crushed. I will probably never speak to anyone in public again.
WOE.
I felt the same way after my one and only Friday coffee club visit.

I was practicing being cheerful today on my commute and discovered that for bell-immune tourists an extra-extra-cheerful “Excuse me! Thank you! Good morning!” got good results
Some of them even said good morning back!
I had a good cyclist pass call ratio today too, so thanks to all of you that passed me and called it
That only works with the early-riser types (people who are out at 7:00 a.m. during vacation are nutso). Afternoon would yield much different results.

ParticipantSpeaking of nutrition, I pulled out my go-bag from a cabinet at work today and found a granola bar. Checked the expiration date: March 2006. I was hungry, but not that hungry.

ParticipantI eat all the time now, too, but I’m still losing weight so I consider it another bonus of bike commuting.

Dirt, are you secretly working for these people? Is this a conspiracy to make me buy cycling clothes? Inquiring minds want to know!
I think JorgeGortex and PedroGringo might be the same person. Full disclosure, Pete!

The clamp on the rack is awesome. Do you know if they are easy to find and apply to other trailer bikes? My wife’s bike doesn’t have enough visible seat post for our current clamp, plus the rack gets in the way.

ParticipantTrying to convince the family they want to hang out with a bunch of sweaty, lycra-clad cyclists. Don’t think it’s going to happen.
