This is my version of a “missed connection” post…

You: headphones, no helmet passing me on the right in the bike lane on Clarendon Blvd. the morning of May 9 about 8 am.

    Me: riding safely as usual

You should call your damn passes – especially when passing on the right. I could have swerved right into you.

    Dumbass.

I’d be glad to set something up for July 12 or 19 at Cap City in Shirlington if people are interested. Any preferences on the date?

Let’s also think about an August one in DC or Crystal City (hopefully not Aug 6-10 though). Would someone be willing to set one up? Dasgeh mentioned Tonic in Foggy Bottom as a possibility.

I say make this a regular, while the sun is still in the sky and the younguns dont drag us off to the relatives house in August.

July 12th. Shirlington. Cap City. Lets have pretzels!

You – older, maybe 60s lady in a new M3 with a super-loud exhaust that sounded like God ripping a Kevlar vest in half.

Me – thought this was awesome.

Early August is probably the best time to do Tonic — before the GW kids take it over. I’m out of town mid-August, but could do the 2nd.

Should we move happy hour discussions over to the meetup thread?

Oh no, is it like that? I was thinking of going next week. Although probably no one will be there next week, come to think of it, since everyone will take the week off. Then all the people that aren’t there won’t talk to me! :(

I went today and forced myself on others — they graciously accepted. It was nice to meet dbb, vvill, and DismalScientist, as well as some BikeDC folks.

Nice to meet you too. I was wondering if you were the same Shawn as here!

You: King of all salmons, flying down the N Van Dorn hill in the middle of the oncoming traffic lanes.

Me: Hoping that hi-vis yellow shirt is body armor, you’re gonna need it.

To the guy on H Street Saturday night (late night) with the cut cables in his hand and padlock still locking the two sides of the cables, that blows man. The worst part was it seemed like your bike was stolen from a sign on the street despite the street being packed with people. I should add I liked your spirit after finishing the police report you immediately went into the bar presumably to drink away your pain.

Anyone else playing DSJB (Don’t swallow Japanese beetles) on the MVT by Gravelly Point?

Why would we forgo such an easy source of protein? That’s a hands-free snack right there.

Is that what those things were? There were millions of them out this morning. I got stung by a bee yesterday (Guess where?) and already don’t like stinging insects so all those buzzing monsters were not my idea of a fun commute.

I’ve been wondering what’s been bouncing off me lately. I sort of prefer them to the gnat clusters since it is easier to inhale those and they get under the eye protection instead of bouncing off.

Anyone notice the large uptick in horseflies? I think that’s what they are. They are really, really big. Often seen near the communal gardens on the WO&D in Arlington near Phoenix Bikes.
