ParticipantHope you get at least a shorter ride in, Eric — I’m hiking on Sunday so will need to give this one a miss.

ParticipantNot yet, but I sure will in the future. I have biked to DCA a couple of times prior to the station opening. Having the CaBi e-bikes as an option will keep the sweat down prior to flying and eliminate worries about parking a bike overnight at the airport.

ParticipantThis story provides additional detail on the project and some context I wasn’t aware of, such as:
“This trail was originally a bridal path, so it was a narrow path for horses, and they converted into a bike trail back in the ’70s,” says David Cranor, a longtime blogger on the D.C. biking scene and member of the city’s bicycle advisory council. Back when the bridal path was converted for bikes, Cranor says, there were no national guidelines for how to build such a trail. “So this will bring those trails up to current standards,” he says.

ParticipantSuper cool. Mark me as probable.

ParticipantHa, that’d be great! There was a few days’ delay in getting our last member onto the Strava club. He’s been a consistent rider so we jumped a lot in the standings!

ParticipantWe’re scattered about the metro but a good crew, for sure! Great turnout at the Zoom happy hour. I look forward to following you all on Strava. I’d be down for a ride to get Chinese food in Rockville or beer on the W&OD.

ParticipantI recommend this ride (especially to Freezers on Team 18. Team 8 is strongly discouraged from participating). It’s a fun route with some unexpected country lanes, and the pizza at Brookeville is solid. Won’t be able to make it this week due to hiking commitments but hope to join next weekend’s ride.

ParticipantRegistration is open for 2021! Main races & rides are Saturday, July 10, with longer rides starting on Thursday and Friday.
I did the 2-day GRUSK Grande in 2019, taking advantage of the gear shuttle, and had a great time — a challenging diversity of terrain and fun crowd. Supposedly the organizers have worked to put more on gravel and less on pavement for the new routes. This year I am tempted to do the new 213-mile ride over three days.
Route and registration info here: https://www.bikereg.com/48638. Discounted registration ends next Friday.
Here’s hoping this summer’s events can go on.

ParticipantReally enjoyed this ride last year. I’ll plan to join on Saturday unless it seems likely to cause domestic discord!

ParticipantOr if a member wants to throw in a few more bucks?

ParticipantReally appreciate all the work you and others have put into this important project. I think about it every time I ride Trollheim! It is surprising to me that it’s left to volunteers given that the bridges have been known safety issues for a long time, though I recognize that NPS has limited resources.
I’ll be glad to pitch in on Saturday. See you then!

ParticipantWithout naming names, I can think of several pointless prize sponsors and winners who rarely post on the forum. I’m not sure how well forum posting tracks pointless prize participation. Would be curious to hear from last year’s PP sponsors about that.
It does seem like one particular reindeer game (which shall not be named) that requires constant forum participation fizzled out during the competition last year.
Agreed, overall forum participation is down. Too bad, as the quality of posts is generally high, and having a repository of good threads on things like bike tires and maintenance is more valuable than disorganized posts on Facebook and Twitter hashtags that are quickly lost and forgotten.
