Thanks again, Steve and was fantastic to see the gang again. See you on the trails.

I just wanted to say thank so much to all those who came out. I know it got a bit crowded there at the end, but hopefully everyone had a good time and were able to meet some folks. Again thanks, and looking forward to next month!

WAVE? So amateurish. Cuts down on my slip stream.

Steve, I heard Circa is having a big fundraising event there for a World Refugee fund. Hope there’s enough room! Sounds like we’ll be inside? How’d the bike parking BTW?

Spiced my commute up a little this morning, usually route N to S and stop at Shirlington but kept going and had some free time so I just watched some planes land this morning. Should do this more often.

I take it DC Bike Party told the user to take it down. Have no idea why he posted it in the first place.

Here you go. The crash is at the end. In this case, I’m happy to be an Arlington rider instead DC.

Running of multiple red lights, you name it.

Thanks Dirt. But, it’s my understanding that chain rings wear much slower than rear cogs, correct or not?

Perhaps some photos of the bike might help? Check out this from VO to mount your accessories. Frees up your hands at least..

Not offended just a wee bit depressed since he sums up what I’ve assumed for a while now: “Small bikes, as a rule, are the worst-designed bikes in the world.”

I did recently read his book where he said the “plumb bob over the knee” theory is hooey. I think I’ll try moving the saddle a little back to see if that helps. It’s an easy thing to try. My hands always feel better when I’m riding up a low incline because the pressure is taken off.

Sorry, didn’t mean to make you depressed! Yeah, I’d try that, along with anyone else’s suggestions. Let us know what works.

I think THIS article is perfect for your question. It’s a “Riv” write-up. IF you’re unfamiliar with Rivendell (not saying you are), be prepared to be informed and a little offended.

“..The saddle’s location itself is too far forward, which puts the forward pedal too close to you. Then when you pedal, the downstroke pulls you forward more and puts more weight on your hands.”

When I had numbness, it would last for days but not much after going to a slacker seat/head tube as I have now. With your case and from the write-up, I would find a seat post/seat that could put your seat further back. IMHO it would take a little pressure off the hands.

If you’re on Instagram, follow “bunyanvelo”, he and another are doing an excellent tour of Scotland and down into the southern parts (now). Excellent pics. My favorites were the shots of Ben Nevis.

Just to contribute to the conversation – a few weeks ago I did a C&O trip up to Harpers Ferry. Look HERE, I did a full report of the surfaces, conditions, even some videos. There’s a link to my FLICKR stream too on my blog. Had tons of fun.

If you average 15mph for that long of a period of time, that is quite good. But, I found dodging depressions and rocks took a lot of attn away from focusing on speed. But, I wasn’t there to focus on speed in the first place.

@kayak, to be fair I use this bike as a townie and touring bike. back when i made this user name I was going to take up Randonneuring full on….Perhaps early next year with 100 or 200km’s but nothing like they are doing right now – 600km’s. Crazy miles for me, at least right now anyway.

[QUOTE=KayakCyndi That bike and bag plus those fenders look very yummy … I might have to take up randonneuring just for the excuse to own something like that!
