    My evening commute was… wet. :p

    But lots fun! The inner mini-powerful pete comes out on moderately rainy days when riding!

    Also, I met a woman last night whose bike was stolen while locked up at an employee rack in front of the EPA. The fact that it was federal property and surrounded by cameras had no effect on deterring the thief. The fact that she was only using a cable lock did not help. When she talked to the security folks, they said six other bikes had been stolen from the same racks recently!

    @n18
    , all good points.

    KLizotte, that is crazy. The security people are aware that bikes are being stolen regularly and that bike rack is being targeted. And just state it openly without, it would seem, taking any measures to make the rack more secure.

    I wonder if six cars were stolen out of the EPA parking lot in quick succession whether their response to the owner of the seventh stolen car would be “oh yeah, that happens a lot here”. 😡

    Good point also from TwoWheelsDC… are you sure the chain is installed correctly?

    1. Don’t worry, we have all done this – changing the chain and nothing else!

    2. If you have a worn chainring, you may want to look at changing your cassette also – chances several of the cogs will be very well worn;

    3. BCD is indeed what you are looking for.

    4. If you tell us the year, make and model of your chainring (actually, just the last two and a guestimate on the first) there is a good chance a lot of people here will be able to tell you what you need to buy.

    5. Now you learned your lesson: change your chain relatively often so that it can mate to the chainring and cogs in the cassette and not wear them excessively! :)

    This is crazy, but what to do? I bought one roadbike secondhand via ebay a good few years ago (a Specialized S-Works). I have no proof of ownership and I am the second owner. If someone stole it I would have a heck of a time proving it was mine…

    What to do beyond registering with Arlington County Police and hoping for the best? Not that a sticker on a frame is going to dissuade a bad guy, no?

    If you spend some time on Google you should be able to find downloadable torrents of each day’s stage. There is a Dutch torrent site (the name escapes me right now) that does an excellent job. While it is not live, it only requires a wee bit of discipline to then watch the stages after dinner with a nice cold cerveza!

    Ok, you have convinced me. And I just now realized that it “starts” at the bridge over the GW Parkway on the Mt. Vernon Trail. I always wondered where that path goes… now I know!

    Will keep an eye out for him. These people really annoy me. Poor bike handling skills and not even the decency to stop after causing an accident.:mad:

    Another very pleasant, enjoyable ride to work this AM. The cloud cover made the temperature puh-fect.

    Loving this weather!

    Another great commute. Bummed because I had time this AM and simply forgot it was coffee Friday day. 😡

    Still nowhere near being in shape. Have to say that I am tired and looking forward to a no ride Saturday by the end of the week… 20 miles a day, give or take, on the commuting tank hurts. 😮

    Wonderful commute home this evening.. the roads were almost dry, one lap of Hains Point and back home. Very pleasant.

    Ok, acceptably pleasant. The still sogging wet socks and somewhat wet pad on my Castelli bibs did dampen my enthusiasm somewhat… :rolleyes:

    The National Weather Service report for Reagan National was that winds were calm at both the 6:52 and 7:52 readings. Where were you riding, or did you just finish your commute? ;)

    I made it in rather late yesterday… 😮

    And the commute this morning was… wet. :(

    Nice weather, rather windy, but still a pleasant ride into work.

    Not feeling any particular excess of energy, but the ride in always puts me in a better frame of mind.

    Admirable effort, but I suspect that he makes his living from shocking others and being very opinionated. Or am I mistaken?
