ParticipantAmen!

ParticipantYes, very pleasant ride into work today… hoping that things do warm up this far evening, it would be so nice to arrive home with full feeling in my hands and feet… for once!

ParticipantMet up with wheels&wings on the Custis on my ride in to work. She was able to witness my ninny descending skillz as I held her up on the entire downhill on Lee all the way to the IoD.
Great riding with you!

ParticipantUp for just about any riding this weekend, with adequate permission on the home front…
As you will note from the pointless standings, I am firmly committed to Hains Points loops… the more, the merrier.
And a pox on the thread interlopers! Don’t use the name of our captain in vain. His awesomeness allows him to swoop into any thread – you should simply be thankful he has allowed you to bask, however briefly, in his ethereal presence!
Oh, and thanks for the drink recipe… I have a… significant weakness for anything involving Gin. Or Vodka. Or red wine… but I digress.

ParticipantA big thank you to all who contributed to the thread and especially those suggesting the L&M 360 as an option. I have now been using the L&M 360 setup on my helmet and absolutely adore the added visibility that it affords me in my after-dark riding.
Has made my evening commute a lot more fun and [almost] stress free. By halfway through my first ride I did not notice the small additional weight penalty… all good!
The product is highly recommended…

ParticipantSalutations to Chris!
Steve O, I will ask for permission – should at the very least be able to ride downhill with you… might even participate in the alcoholic bits of the ride.
Powerful Pete
ParticipantFantastic!
All hail our glorious captain, and a big welcome to Fithsparo – BTW, please do introduce yourself to the gang!
Should we try to organize a team ride this weekend? I am interested – preferably Saturday or Sunday (afternoon only for Sunday due to family commitments).
Also, does anyone else have MLK off next Monday?

ParticipantInteresting take-away, although often subject to debate… how are the accident and injury rates in places like Denmark, Belgium and/or The Netherlands where shared bike/car infrastructure is developed jointly (I recall studying in Belgium and doing 99% of my riding on rural roads that had a clearly demarcated bike lane but no physical separation… and the cars were moving fast).

Participant@ Amalitza, Touché.
Jokes aside, I always find that so hard to fathom – how could an IT department mandate IE use exclusively (I know, I know, some proprietary MS stuff)?
I work for a large bureaucracy and at least we also have the option to use Chrome (although in fairness to your point our intranet only seems to be optimized for IE).

Yes, Internet Explorer.
Not trying to be snippy, but why would one surf the intarwebz using IE these days? Goodness, even Safari is passable (runs and hides from the Mac users).

And that, my friend, is an outrage. If I could vote, I would vote for someone who made this a central plank in their political platform.
N.B. There should also be soothing tropical music played while I ride… that is an additional conditio sine qua non!

ParticipantFirmly in the technical clothing and clipless camp. I dress like a roadie because, until moving to DC, I was almost exclusively a roadie, so I have quite a bit of technical gear. The gear looks goofy to non-cyclists but it works – it makes me ride more efficiently and comfortably.
And no, I don’t look particularly good in lycra these days, but I’m Italian and rather more self confident than I should be and therefore everyone needs to see me in my lycra-clad glory.
Do what works and feels most comfortable. Given where you are coming from the MTB-ish clothing and platform/spd pedal combo might be a good place to go.

ParticipantI would like to confirm, with great joy, that Trollheim is now clear – just a few minor puddles that might turn into ice patches with the temps falling, but nothing that cannot be handled with common sense.
Powerful Pete
ParticipantAs others have stated, glorious commute. Trollheim is now clear of ice and there is very little on the bit of the MVT through to the 14th Street Bridge. Cold, crisp and sunny… Most excellent.
Hoping that temperatures do not drop too much for this evening’s return trip!

ParticipantWe have the Tiles (early adopters!) and have them on our house/car keys at home. They would seem to be good bike locators – the app works well down to a house address… Not too different from a Find My iPhone type technology.
