The “Facebook” Famous Sandalwood Shoe Tree
Didn’t know you had to be 25 to wear a bowler hat… Or is it you have to be 25 to have a mustache?
I was actually blocking her driveway when I was taking this picture.

Went to Hell. Lost my Cue sheet. Didn’t stop for the postcards.
Dismal: Was thinking of riding this:

Like this, minus all the touring gear in this case, I assume.
Was going to rent a bike box (or beg/borrow one) (http://www.tricosports.com/travel_cases.html).
And Grand Cayman is… well… small. Was planning on: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3889168 or something just a bit longer for a full century.

ParticipantTrying to figure out the logistics for my 2 week vacation in February, but I’m shooting for the “Rider who circumnavigated a country” prize, trying to get in a long ride or two in Grand Cayman. Looking like I’ll have to pack my bike as the prospects for a road bike rental seems to be “none” or “rip off the stupid tourist”.

ParticipantIt’s now more concrete; I won’t be able to make it (told ya). One good thing health wise with my mother-in-law was cancelled out by a setback by my grandfather, so I’ll be riding slug rides here in Rehoboth Beach. If *ANYONE* wants to come for some coffee, please let me know.

ParticipantJust came up short of 5k this year, so my goal is 5k for next year.
I won’t be repeating the TdF trip this year, but I’m shooting for more climbing, though getting out to the mountains will be just as difficult next year as it was this year. I planned to ride Weather mountain at least 6-7 times, only made it once.
Two big goals: I do plan on riding Skyline drive over two days, southbound on a Saturday, and Northbound the next Sunday. And actually riding my bike and not walking up Coxey Brown Rd.

ParticipantWhile I am generally in support of your opinion, also realise that every one you flag will be recreated.
You’ll find we’ve flogged this horse before:

ParticipantI’m going do resolve to almost double that at 2500 miles for 2013. If I’m going to get in shape to do Alpe d’Huez in July, I hope to far exceed 2500 miles.
I was at 2253 yesterday. Just mind blowing. I’ve got 2 weeks to my 1 year anniversary of the ride that started it all, I should eclipse 2500 by then.According to Garmin, with 4 days left, I’m going to almost double what I was expecting. 220 rides, 4,749 miles, 338 hours in the saddle. I don’t think I’ll end up doing 250 miles in those 4 days, so I’ll be happy to have a solid goal for next year.
I climbed Ventoux, Alpe d’Huez, Les Deux Alpes, and had a life-changing year. Going from never ridden a road bike, to riding 2 english centuries, 13 metrics, and losing the weight and keeping it off. Oh, and a lot of coffee!
Waiting for the resolution thread next…

ParticipantA long sleeve Danny Shane jersey. Took it for a ride today, prepping for the overeating tonight.

ParticipantIt was warm. And it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been on my bike other than on a trainer. Perfect solution: Ride!
Headed out from Rehoboth Beach to Millford to go to Dogfish Head Brewery. Shouldn’t be bad, only 58 miles round trip right?

There were lots of cows out there today, especially on Dairy Farm Road.

Along the way, I rode by A. A. Milne’s american kin…
About 19 miles in, the voice in my head that was saying “Oh this is going to be easy.” was saying “Wow, your back is really stiff. Maybe you should turn around.” Then a mile later, the other voices chimed in, so I did turn around without getting to the brewery. Guess I’ll do that at a later date.

On the way back I stopped briefly at Pepper’s greenhouses, where they grow the peppers that go into their hot sauces.

But with all the open fields and the winds that were either a cross-wind or a head-wind, it was a rough first ride back on the bike; I never thought I’d learn to draft a tree.

ParticipantThere’s the more sport-specific Recon Jet that’s still in pre-order stage:
http://www.reconinstruments.com/products/jet/
That’ll cost you a third of what google glass costs, but aren’t meant to be worn/used all the time, just for outdoor sports.
