Western Europe, who always seems to be ahead of the game when it comes to urban cycling and commuting is experimenting with paying people to bike to work, in an increased effort to take cars off the road. Now France is joining the game and it’s one I’d like to participate in.
$0.34/km and my commute being 28 miles round trip…. means I could earn $7.5 or $15/commute depending on whether they pay round trip or not.

I vote we do this here.
I wonder if I can leverage this income stream into something that would make moving to Bourg d’Oisans and work remotely up a hill with free wifi at a cafe.

I learned a pretty valuable lesson there. Slow the F down going through intersections. Making the light doesn’t matter if you get destroyed trying to do it.
After going over my handlebars at the access road light in front of the Barcroft Park entrance on the W&OD, I’ve developed an uber-paranoia about cars seeing me on that part of the W&OD.
Last night it was a driver turning right onto Walter Reed from FMR failed to see me sitting there at the light for a 20 seconds while we waited for the FMR light to turn green, and as I clipped in, came within a foot and a half of knocking me over, but I guess just not as dire a situation as yours.
It’s a sad state of affairs that I’ve been contemplating riding on FMR Drive instead of the W&OD because it’s safer to ride in the roadway than on the MUP.

ParticipantAgreed, Last night was super-interval night.
I went thru there at about 7, and it wasn’t very crowded (I did see rcannon just past/before Quinn), but then again I was going clockwise.
W&OD from Columbia Pike to Van Buren was more crowded than the Custis.

Same here, except the “cool” bike to have was a Mongoose BMX bike. Oddly enough, you could ride any old department-store POS and nobody would bat an eye, but get spotted riding a Huffy and you were a Pariah for life.
Agreed, my brother was the envy of the ‘hood when he got his Mongoose for his birthday.

ParticipantCharlotte wanted to go to the “bookstore” (i.e. the place where she gets to play with all the Thomas trains)…
Saw this and flipped through it and wondered who was cutting onions in a bookstore, so it came home with us:

ParticipantWith how lost my 500 gets on mountains and how many times it goes off course even in the flat plains of Delaware, I’d shy away from the 800 as it uses the same GPS chipset.

ParticipantLast I worked for had laser plotters (for network diagrams). Nothing better than something that can actually print out something at an ANSI E size in less than 15 seconds. Except, dat toner cartridge replacement cost…

See you tomorrow!
I revel in the weather forecasts that foresee rain throughout the day… except that their concept of day occurs after I’d get to work from HDCC
