I went on a recon ride at lunch time and this are the conditions I found:

W&OD Trail is clear between the Trail Head in Shirlington to Benjamin Banneker Park.

Except for a couple of spots where you find “ice minefields” in shady spots and at the end of the trail just before exiting Benjamin Banneker Park.

The falls church portion of the trail has not been cleared and is a mix of ice and frozen snow. The next pictures were taken  from “Little Falls St” first one looking north on the W&OD the second one looking south towards the bridge over Langston Blvd.

I feel it is an ingenious solution to the problem of getting wet in freezing temperatures. The ride is still outside and freezing! just not as wet

Hello all!

Sorry i missed the HH last week and the radio silence of the last few days, i was out of town for a few days but now I’m back with no plans to go anywhere except on my bike.

I have two little ones at home so it will be hard for me to attend the social events but i will try to post here and of course will continue to crank the pedals for the team.

I live near Shirlington and my biking is normally commute to Ballston on week days and Spokes bike shop ride on Sundays. This is my first year participating in Freezing Saddles and I’m all up for it!

I hope i get to meet a few of you one of these days.
