Funny – that’s precisely why I voted for Velcro instead of slap bands…

Speaking as one of the few people above the age of 12 who the short slap bands fit, they actually only work in the warm weather when not wearing multiple layers. So not during FS!

(and btw….. If they don’t fit you ever, that means you started out with good bone density….[emoji16])

It’s pretty easy — things to remember: the downstream side of the Memorial Bridge is the safest. Then cross the street when you get to the intersection (after the bridge, at the Metro). Then take the trail that runs along the road that goes off to the right. From there, you can take the road or trail to the Iwo Jima, then take the trail just south of the Iwo Jima up to the Road. That road will become Lynn street and take you to the intersection of doom.

I got lost right at the beginning. Which side is the downstream side? South or north?

    Nadine,

I’ll bring both to the ride tomorrow. The bolero would fit you perfectly for sure!

I sent you a message on fb but looks like your didn’t see it. Pulled a groin muscle yesterday and it didn’t heal magically overnight at is been hoping. I was hoping to catch you before you left so you wouldn’t pack the clothes….

Or I could meet you guys at eden center (so close to my house) but Komo didn’t send the live track…..yet….

I’m not so sure anymore about coming. I pulled a small muscle in my groin yesterday and it hurts every time I take a step. Might be fine on the bike, but it hurts just walking around getting ready. I’d hoped it would get better overnight but…. Maybe tonight…

Dr Anne (awitt) says it’ll only get better if I stay off it for today at least……

Sure, I’ll send you the Live Track. And you shouldn’t worry about keeping up. I’ll be riding my heavy commuter, so I won’t be racing up any hills.

I hope that both you and Mr. Kitty feel better soon!

Thanks komorebi! That makes me feel better about my choice of bike. [emoji16]
And kitty I’m sorry to hear your guy is sick and you may be incubating…[emoji40]

I’m interested in this – see my reply to your sleeveless jersey post.

Also happy to pickup in falls church if tomorrow isn’t easy.

Good for you for taking the opportunity to sort through your stuff because moving. I keep meaning to offer you help with that. Are you doing it all on weekends and evenings?

I’m interested in the orange one. Because it’s beautiful – because orange! I usually wear a small though, so might be stupid. But I bet it’ll look fine a li’l loose, given no sleeves.

Also interested in your black bolero, which is my size & would look great with it (especially at Halloween [emoji38]) Tempted to ask you to bring them on tomorrow’s Asian food ride – but if it’s really pouring is possible I’ll bail….

Sure. Should I send the LiveTrack to your email address, or would QOTM prefer to get the LiveTrack at a different email address?

Also, for anyone who is nervously eyeing Sunday’s weather forecast, I’m planning to go ahead with this ride unless it’s pouring out — and maybe even then. Bring your rain gear.

Can you send me the live track too? I’m planning to come to the start but also nervously eyeing the forecast. And I might address it by riding my Jamis, which has wider tires & is slower…. And since I’m not Josh I wonder if I might not keep up…..

Ooooo thanks. I forgot to register. I’d thought I couldn’t do it, because I was gonna do bike ms/dc – but it gut canceled….

Sad! But also thank you for all of the work you’ve done to build, maintain and sometimes I crash the site. Freezing Saddles couldn’t have happened without it and I probably wouldn’t have had most of the friends I have today without Freezing Saddles, so your efforts have at least made my life better.

I’m with Judd 1000%. I LOVE freezing Saddles. And I don’t like winter, otherwise. And I’m so grateful to Hozn & Jon for everything you guys have done to make it happen.

I love how it’s somehow competitive and non competitive at the same time. The support! The comMUnity! I feel like I get out of FS a lot of what religious people get out of religion. A vibrant supportive community – and we even worship a common icon! [emoji16][emoji468]*♀️[emoji38][emoji322][emoji323]

I’m not in a position to offer to take over for hozn (I’m only just passable at strava) but I hope someone will step up. I could offer non computer support of some kind….. but I hope we can figure out a way. I’ve never figured out Calvinball, and I only found you guys 3 years ago, and I just recruited awitt last winter and she loves it too…. Sigh.

And if we do, Hozn, since you won’t be on computer duty, maybe you’ll be able to play this year?

I’m a middle of the road player, btw, like Accordioneur. The highest I’ve ever been on a team is 4th, and I’ve been pretty happy with that actually….

We talk to the kids a lot about health and body image. The older one is tall and lean, the younger one is stockier – not fat, just the way she’s built. It’s definitely something we’re conscious of, and we try to talk about how both of them exercise a lot and eat well.

And you bike and often carry them, so they know you’re for real. That’s good. Girls get such ubiquitous impossible messages about body image that even those of us who were never about that can’t shut them out….

Your efforts will probably get yours past them, though. I owe my unapologetic shameless body attitude completely to my parents. (And I have a good story about that, too….)
