Just a reminder that the game has started!
I love this side bet. If we had a prize for the most helpful pointless prize…. Drevil would give you a run for your $, but I think this one would still win.
After I get back from outta town AGAIN [emoji849] ima go walk dogs. And if the furlough continues next week maybe my favorite guy will come with me and we’ll walk two.

Everyone’s a contender! We can session (practice or attempt) silly trix on group rides. Ask me how, but I’ll be honest, I’m a terrible teacher because some of this stuff is so ingrained I forget details when trying to explain.
Yeah I get that. My son has always had numbers & math in his head – and when my daughter had an awful algebra teacher in 8th grade & I asked if he could help, he admitted he had no idea how to explain any of it because he’s just always gotten it. Of course. He works for Google now….
You have an advantage in that what you’re tryna teach is physical, so we can watch you or your videos and have a shot at seeing what you seem to be doing… And that’s all right here in the prize planning. You did a really nice job.

Even if you’re not a contender for this pointless prize, the spreadsheet with drevil’s “Real life uses” are worth checking out. I now know what I need to learn so I can survive dinosaurs coming back
I’m with her ^^. And it’s not just the spreadsheet – this whole prize is the bomb! And I’m one of the furthest from being a contender.

Thank you to everyone who donated to the WABA year end campaign. The two walking and biking groups that I’m a member of (Alexandria BPAC and the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail) have both received support from WABA this past year. WABA has also had a presence at nearly every bicycling advocacy meeting that I’ve attended. They’re especially good at getting bicycle infrastructure into planning documents (even though we almost always have to fight when it’s time to implement).
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThanks for doing this again, Judd. I’m not earning any $ at this stage of my life so I have to refrain from donating to all the causes I’d like to support (especially now [emoji849]) WABA is my one exception…. especially when I see YOU doing THIS.
I’m so privileged to live in Bike Path Mecca! And yeah I know who makes that happen…. If I were earning $ I’d be giving more. Sending so much love and gratitude with that li’l donation. Thanks WABA, and thanks Judd.

I’ve just fixed the issues with the Strava Authorization feature on the Freezing Saddles web site. Everyone who had trouble doing this in the last 10 days or so should re-authorize by going to https://freezingsaddles.org/authorize now!
If you had previously authorized AND you allowed Strava to read your private activities, and it went through, you don’t need to re-authorize.
HOWEVER, If you only let it read your public activities you will need to authorize again as Strava changed it so that we can’t tell what team you are on unless we get permission to read your full profile.

Richard Does this mean we have to authorize strava to read our private activities now? Because that’s what I just got from your message.
Thanks for all your work on this, and for stepping up in the first place!

ParticipantI’m in! And w&w, I’d like to help. What time do you usually leave from home/get there and when do you usually leave, after cleanup?
I could come to you with mostly empty panniers & help carry stuff in. I might be able to stay for cleanup too, if you’d be ok with riding back with me. (I like company @ night riding because vision issues.) We’re on Sarah’s way home too. You have my email address I think.

You’ll still need to go to https://freezingsaddles.org/authorize once it’s back up (some time before January 1) to authorize Freezing Saddles to read your miles (so they will get counted).
Carol, I’m assuming I don’t have to do the authorization part as I’ve been in FS for a few years…. Do I have that right, or do I need to reauthorize?
I don’t remember reauthorizing every year – but I could see doing it & forgetting, a year later, every year….

The FS2019 ankle bands are here! Now you can be certain that the lunatic you saw riding with a joyful smile on his or her face despite the dark/cold/wind/rain/snow/sleet/ice is a fellow FS participant, instead of some other variety of lunatic.
The ankle bands are $2 each. They’re sturdier than the usual ankle bands, are easily adjustable, and have a hidden pocket for keys or emergency cash.
If you’d like to buy them in person, come find me at (1) FCC tomorrow at Swing’s, (2) the HP100 this Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and noon, (2) the Del Ray holiday lights ride this Sunday evening, or (4) the kickoff happy hour on Thursday, January 10. After the New Year, I’ll usually (although not always) be at my normal coffee clubs: CCCC, HDCC, WTFCC, and FCC.
If you’d prefer to have your ankle band shipped to you, send me the money via PayPal at https://www.paypal.me/komorebicycling. Add $3.50 to cover shipping (that’s the minimum USPS package rate, sorry). In the optional “Write a note” field, enter your mailing address so that I know where to send the ankle band.
That’s awesome! They look great! I want two!
Idk if I’ll get to HP before noon…. I was planning to get there by 10, but so much less motivated to, uhm, get up and out, with the rain. But I might. I’ll look for you if I do.Looks like it should be done raining in time for the holiday lights ride. I might make it to that. I do love those.

Is that
A) how many miles I normally ride each week
– or –
how many miles I expect to ride each week of Freezing Saddles
? The question wording suggests A, but that seems irrelevant for FS.
Muchas gracias.
I guess I’ve always wondered about this too, because my answer was 100-150, the latter being closer to my weekly average all year, and the former being what I’m more likely to average during freezing Saddles.
(I was so psyched the survey let me put in a range! I have always sucked at surveys and multiple choice answers – I always wanna answer some other thing.) [emoji38]

ParticipantI’m looking forward to another freezing Saddles season! You guys are the best thing about my otherwise least favorite season! So grateful Richard stepped up, and interested to see what the rule changes bring.
I know Thanksgiving was a coupla weeks ago but can I just say I’M SO GRATEFUL FOR FREEZING SADDLES!
