ParticipantWay to go Bike Arlington Teams! Remember to input those Bike-to-Work day miles. The Killer Bees are now within striking (stinging) distance of 5th place nationally. good numbers from all the local teams though.

It’s scientifically proven that pink reduces aerodynamic drag.
+ 2 points for using “pink” and “drag” in an unconventional way.

I am so very excited!
Tim Kelley offered me a chance to volunteer at Ballston on Friday.
At six am.I’m thinking of just sleeping on a grate in front of Metro to save time.

I’ve been thinking about this stuff as I psychotically sing my way down the multi-use trails of the National Capital Region… It is odd to me what people hear and what they don’t…. what registers with them and what doesn’t.
The fixie is totally stealth. People not only don’t hear it, but they tend not to hear me while I’m riding it unless I’m singing something particularly heinous.
Things are different on the fatbike. There’s something about the rumbling of something that sounds like a truck tire that gets through both headphones and “me me me” mindset. I usually don’t have to sing when I’m on that bike. I do anyways because it is wonderfully therapeutic to sing really loud, out of tune and with the wrong words.
I may have to start a new scientific study of this.
Hugs and kisses,
Dirt
Dirt,
What song do you tend to sing? So I know it is you comming up behind me. I find that Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbons in the Sky” tends to jump in my head on the W&OD between Ceder and 495; the trail is pretty straight here and you can see a thin ribbon of asphalt leading to the horizon.Mikey
ParticipantGot my bell, and a bagel and banana this morning. Also, the CC pit stop crew said that they will not be giving out jerseys to those who visit each day this week, but there will be a drawing on Friday for 1 of 10 Bike Arlington jerseys.
got a bell, got a light, missed the patch kit, wonder what tomorrow will bring?

It also showed up in the B section of the print version today. If you need an extra copy, please send me a PM with your address and I will mail it to you. Gotta show that to the grandparents!

Thanks Liz, but we are fine. My wife picked up 2 copies when she found out about it. And since it’s the WP, my wife’s family was able to pick up a copy at their local Barnes and Noble.
So, we got it covered .Thanks again.

Thanks for posting this, I knew the WP had taken some pictures, but I wasn’t sure when they would show up. Thanks for the link! We had a blast. At one point my middle son got tired and had to ride in the trailer. At the AF memorial I gave my wife a rest and pulled both the trailer and the trailer-bike down the hill and back over into the city. In all I think we were about 25-30 feet long, but full of smiles.

ParticipantWe also signed up for the family ride, once across the Roosevelt bridge we were directed to rout 50. We got up above the IwoJima memorial, and were told by the police to turn back, without making the left down the hill with the metal plates, even though we could see people below. We were then told to go back across the bridge, and all of the marshals were confused, plus we were forced to cross over on comming bike traffic twice. Not wanting to end our ride after 30 minutes we elected to ride up GWP and by the time we made it back to the IwoJima statue it was back open again.

My riding buddy is my 11-year old son, so we will be lucky to make it through the 11-mile Family Ride. The promise of rest stops with snacks should be a major enticement, though.

My boys and I will be doing the family ride with my wife as well. Dougie (6) and Ben (5) will be on the Tri-andem with me while Jack(3) will have a free ride on my wife’s bike. I wish I could log 4x the miles.
Mikey
ParticipantPete you are out of control!
I had a week end of kids soccer, groceries, gardening, and you apparently rode your bike to Ocean City and back! You rock. I at least got a few times around the block after I fixed my flat, cleaned my chain and adjusted my rear deraileur, every little bit counts right?
Mikey
ParticipantFor those of us on the Arlington Loopies (Group Health Commuter Challenge) don’t forget to log your miles there as well! go Loopies!, go BA!

ParticipantGood morning americancyclo, I thought that was you this morning on the W&OD at Lee Highway in EFC. Now with Dirt’s picture I am sure. I kept up just behind you to the top of the Brandymore castle, they you took off on the down hill. I was on the red GF hybrid in a red jacket yellow shirt and blue shorts.
Mikey
ParticipantI was thinking after, but before would be cool too.
