ParticipantFYI…I can attest, the medio route (77 miles) is no joke. But, well worth it if you think you’re not up to the full route.
The medio route is all paved. In fact, climbing Reddish Knob was like butter – a slow, slow, slow, steep butter incline. I had many conversations with little wooly worms running, and keeping pace, with me. But, I made it up the climbs without walking or stopping. Oh yeaaaah.

ParticipantThe Mister and I will be out there in a super-secret counting location first thing tomorrow. In fact, it’s so super-secret, I forgot where we signed up to be. I hope he knows…

ParticipantI just bought these Merrell bike shoes in coffee. And, there was a $20 discount, if you purchase through ShoeMall. Enter code AUTUMN20 at checkout.
They better hurry up and get here…the other style I have, in black, have held up really well and are tres comfortable.

ParticipantI just constantly sport the low ponytail all the time. (When I do wear my hair down at work people usually will make a “wow, yer hair’s down” comment so perhaps that’s a hint I wear the ponytail way too much…?) Also, with the low pony when you take the helmet off, have some large barrettes around so you can take the low ponytail and twist it up and affix it to the top of your head.
You can also do the low tucked ponytail where you don’t pull the hair all the way through. On your last past through tightening your hair band, just don’t pull your hair all the way through so it’s a 1/2 ponytail loop. Or, even just a low bun after you get back into inside.
Oh, also, there’s always the topsy-turvy look…
I’ll also admit, I braid my hair when I’m out for a long time otherwise, I’m more of a complete mess than I normally am.
This all reminds me…I need a haircut.

ParticipantI’ll definitely be looking into these. Thanks for sharing! (Still bummed that Levis only recognizes men bike commuters with their jeans. We women commute too!)
I also give high thumbs up for the Merrell biking heels. The Shoe Divas in my office compliment them when I’m wearing them. They had no idea they were bike shoes. Huzzah!
I have these in black (and I’m eyeing getting all the other colors).

ParticipantYay! I loooove the fair.
You know you’ll see me at the tables one of the days. I had a great time doing it last year. Will check my schedule and will let you know.

ParticipantI’d like to vote Jay’s Saloon for the Clarendon location. They don’t mind sweaty folks in spandex, we can take over the front area, and plenty of places to hook up a bike or, heck, bring it right on the patio. And, it’s supporting a local business with wonderful management (shout out to Jay and Kathy!)
Walking distance from Clarendon metro, and, for those that drive, there’s a little parking lot and plenty of on street parking.

ParticipantI’m putting this site in my regular round of updates after a ride, even after the WABA month ends. That way, I’m helping out some other communities that may not have the numbers locally, but could definitely use the money…
I didn’t look too closely, but I wonder who the August beneficiary is?

ParticipantI am so totally in. July is going to be a low mileage month due to more running and swimming, so I’m loving the “trips” aspect of this. I’m always on my bike heading back and forth from the grocery store, library, swimming pool…in fact I may start riding CaBi to head someplace else and then get my run in by running home.

ParticipantO/T a bit: NBC Sports Network has been doing some great coverage this week of the Olympic Trials. Not too many schmatzy pieces, lots of great camera angles and some nail biting action.
