Tapiriik.com now supports syncing stationary activities (before it was only stuff with geo), so you may want to simply use one of the other tapiriik.com-supported sites and have that automatically published to Strava. (E.g. if Endomondo is better, use that.) I am not 100% sure that this feature has been deployed, but know that Collin merged in that code.
My ridewithgps.com support was also merged in, but when he then merged in the stationary support that had to be disabled. It’s on my plate to go back and add the stationary activity suppor to rwgps. I will circle back on that once the freezing saddles stuff is in a good place (I think we’re pretty close).
In general, though, the problems you describe with forgetting to start a recording or to stop are things that all of us likely experienced (and still experience, though less frequently) when we started using devices to capture ride data & upload it to these types of sites.
Did Tapiriik drop support for endomondo? I used the service for the NBC but I no longer see an endomondo link on my tapiriik connections page.

ParticipantI vote for the use of full names, and complete strava integration.
Does Strava expose the instagram photos in it’s API, or would you have to call the instagram API directly and filter out ride pictures? A prize for most pictures and best picture could be fun.

ParticipantNo rain, shorts, and short sleeves in December makes for a pretty awesome morning commute.
The ride home will surely suck though.

Going downhill, jumping the light at Nash is particularly silly, as you’ll get caught by the light at Fort Myer.
Not for me this morning. I jumped both Scott and Nash after the cars cleared, and hit both Ft. Myer and Lynn on green.
The cycle for both Nash and Scott are unnecessarily long. 20+ seconds of green light for 2 cars seems excessive.

ParticipantThe new section of re-aligned trail was paved this morning. nice and smooth.
Now they just need to put the crosswalk buttons on the right side of the trail.

ParticipantStill not closed as of this morning.

ParticipantWas rather warm. Last night the forecast said it would be 34°, it wasn’t, and I was way over dressed.

You: Everyone getting their knickers in a knot about light brightness.
Me: Just appreciate visibility, look to the side of the trail, move on.Please tell me you are not ‘4,200 lumen light shined right in my face on the trail’ guy. Even worse are the people who have lights that strobe so bright it is going to cause a seizure. But this topic has been beaten to death here many times.
You: jackhole in the truck that came within a couple feet of hitting me as I was walking across Washington blvd with the signal.
Me: looking at you with disdain.
You: stopping in the middle of the intersection and rolling you window down to ask my why I looked at you.
Me: I have never yelled at someone so much in my life, nothing that I said can be repeated here.MattAune

Lady in cream Mazda MX-5, license plate BODHA with Human Rights sticker. Please do not constantly drive within 1 foot of my left pedal. When I’m riding in the middle that means there isn’t space for two abreast in the road – every other driver seemed to understand that just fine. Also, please do not cross a double yellow in a 25 zone to overtake, and please do not then brake to turn right 300 yards later on a fast downhill.
It’s a good thing that “cyclists aren’t human”, otherwise her sticker would have been so ironic.

ParticipantWasn’t really a commute at all. Left at normal time and tried to meet GregBain and guycontinental on the Custis but missed them. Decided to go to the MVT and do a loop of Hains to kill time before meeting the CX crew at gravelly point, passed dbb on the 14th st bridge going the wrong way. Did a lap and a half of the CX course with kayakcindy, dcv, guycontinental, JasonB and VVill which was quite the adventure on gatorskins. Made it to HDCC after passing consularrider on the 4MRT. Had coffee with PeteD, arlingtonrider, KLizzotte, and DismalScientist. Got half way to the office before realizing that I forgot my building pass. Rode all the way home and ran into Dirt in falls church. Then I had to drive to work because I was late.
So for those of you counting at home I saw 13 forum members this morning on my non commute. Shawnofthedread, Dickie where you guys? You could have made it 15.

Thanks! MTB it would be, then (besides, I don’t know how many times I’d want to shoulder 37 lbs of commuter hybrid plus accessories)
Some of the Hills are definitely not rideable with slicks, the grass wasn’t even wet this morning. Also, the run ups are nice and smooth with no stairs, no shouldering necessary. Cindy is displaying the perfect technique in her picture.

Are people doing Gravelly cross rides on Weds. mornings now? Would HDCC on another day be better during cross season?
I think this is a one time thing. I like Wednesday coffee club.

ParticipantFenders will be fine, Dickie.
I am not sure I want to ride my cross tires the 17 miles of pavement (plus 17+ miles home) just to do 45 minutes of CX laps. I might strap the CX wheels to my back, we will see.
