Crazy Ivan runner on the MVT near National Airport this evening. I did not curse her or make gestures. It felt Dirt-y.

I dont see an option for PM either. I can do this week. I dont actually start at the internship until the 1st but I’d enjoy riding with you this Tuesday-Thursday.

Let me know if you’d like a third on your morning commute or trial run this week. I usually leave Del Ray around 7:00am and ride by the 14th Street Bridge on my way further upriver. What size frame do you ride? I’ve got an older large Schwinn Speedster 3-speed you can borrow/have if you like. Edited to add: I normally ride a 59cm and the Schwinn fits me fine.

So apparently I no longer have the ability to send private messages…so if you can, send me one. If not, I’ll contact the admins…not sure why the feature got shut off on my end.

Short story–this week Tues-Thurs work for me, or the following week Tuesday or Wednesday.

Do you and addxb2 have PM turned on? I can PM dbb, PotomacCyclist and Henry, but not you and addxb2.

I have enough experience at the Trollheim intersection (I’ve ridden through it over 9,000 times) that I check for downhill riders both upriver and downriver every time. It is getting harder to see past the foliage going downriver and it is never easy to look to the extreme left while going upriver. Cyclists who have no experience with the complications of that intersection are not going to always make the right decision. Like the IOD, it is a place to be wary.

And Dismal, the last time orange traffic cones were placed on the Trollheim (the site of the car crash damage), someone threw them over the side.

The priority is to keep everyone safe.

Indeed. And while I do not use “On your left” (I mean, really, where the heck else are you going to be if the passee is in the correct position on the trail?) I can see its effectiveness. It starts off with a soft vowel sound, avoiding an unpleasant, startling beginning, and ends with a hard “T” sound, emphasizing the event.

I also am a believer in bells. Even Freddy Mercury knew what a bell meant (hint: There is a bicycle somewhere close by). When on my bell-less Steamroller, I use “bike passing”. As Cricky7 noted, calling your pass too late is ineffective and annoying.

For those who saw a guy in a yellow jersey changing a (rear wheel, of course) flat under the George Mason Memorial Bridge – THIS is the culprit.

Last year, they had Paul Bakery, Dean & Deluca, Baked & Wired, and Sprinkles providing food, Malmaison providing juice, and Starbucks providing coffee. I got coffee, some kind of hot pastries, huge Sprinkles cupcakes, chocolate croisants, Hippy Crack, bananas, and yogurt. They also had coupons for free Chipotle. I’m not sure whether they do all that every year, or whether it resulted from the fact that last year, Georgetown – Meigs Park closed due to the monsoon and consolidated with Georgetown – Waterfront.

Based on this year, I’d say last year was a spectacular one-off. This year Dean & Deluca offered high zoot water, nothing else and the only food I saw was some tiny cupcakes. They were quite delicious.

Crystal City passed on the food, secured my jersey…

So I assume there are a whole bunch of us getting together at the June 3rd Blues & Brews to pick up our jerseys. There was mention of a free drink as well. I hope they didn’t mean water.

Same thing :( i checked it out after you gave me the tip at crystal city. Maybe it’s an evening pit stop?

I am truly sorry for giving you that false information. The ride through the grove is pretty, though.

I thought seriously about flattening all the signs as I left to prevent any others from venturing down there, but then realized I really wasn’t too sure what the situation was. Not until I checked the pit stop map did I realize it was bogus.

Entertainment? You mean more than just meeting new people and friendly early morning conversation?

    Suitland –
    Basically, same as above.

Del Ray – plus water bottles & all of last year’s shirts you could carry. (“Please, take all you want”) The Happy Tart cookies were warm and good.
